Anime Films Recommendations

Many ask me for anime film recommendations and so here I am to deliver them to you all my dear readers😊 These are films I recommend for anyone interested in a good story or entry into Anime and so this is not a ranked or a rating list.

Your Name

Two teenagers share a profound, magical connection upon discovering they are swapping bodies. Things manage to become even more complicated when the boy and girl decide to meet in person. An absolutely beautiful film. I have seen so many times and it's just so good and hard hitting every single time. 

I Want To Eat Your Pancreas

A high school student discovers one of his classmates, Sakura Yamauchi, is suffering from a terminal illness. This secret brings the two together, as she lives out her final moments. I only seen this once but oh my god there's a part of the film which hit me so hard out of nowhere and I felt that for weeks. Heartbreaking but beautiful.

Weathering With You

In Tokyo, a runaway high school student facing financial struggles ends up with a job at a small-time publisher. One day, he meets a young girl who has the ability to control the weather. Another Makoto Shinkai film on my list and be prepared there's a few on here hehe. Beautiful animation and a lovely story. 

Porco Rosso

The plot revolves around an Italian World War I ex-fighter ace, now living as a freelance bounty hunter chasing "air pirates" in the Adriatic Sea. However, an unusual curse has transformed him into an anthropomorphic pig. Once called Marco Pagot (Marco Rossolini in the American version), he is now known to the world as "Porco Rosso", Italian for "Red Pig". A great animated comedy film that in Studio Ghibli catalogue is underrated, the English voice cast and Marco is voiced by Michael Keaton who is just brilliant in the roll. 

Dragonball Super: Broly

The film follows Goku and Vegeta as they encounter a powerful Saiyan named Broly. The film also chronicles the history of the Saiyans and the background story of these three Saiyans with different destinies connected to the turbulent period of their race, and later culminating in a massive battle between them. By now you all know how much of a big fan of DragonBall franchise I am and well if you want a quick summary of the dragon ball series start with Battle Of The Gods, then Resurrection F and finally get your bum down to watch this epic brawling animated film. Yes, I guess I just recommended two other films too in one but honestly the action and music in Broly is top notch!

One Piece: Red

The story is set on the "Island of Music" Elegia, where Uta, the world's greatest diva, holds her first ever live concert and reveals herself to the public. The Straw Hats, pirates, Marines and fans from across the world gather to enjoy Uta's voice, which has been described as "otherworldly". However, the event begins with the shocking revelation that Uta is the daughter of Shanks who is one of the most powerful pirates. Music, Pirates, Hard hitting action, stunning animation, this film was my massive dive into One Piece. Literally this film was like some narcotics, my system was blown and I needed more and I was so obsessed with the music. 

Howls Moving Castle

When an unconfident young woman is cursed with an old body by a spiteful witch, her only chance of breaking the spell lies with a self-indulgent yet insecure young wizard and his companions in his legged, walking castle. This is my personal favourite Ghibli film and the English dub is superb with Christian Bale voicing the lead and titular character of Howl.

A Silent Voice

A grade-school student with a hearing impairment is bullied and transfers to another school. Years later, the former bully is tormented by his behaviour and sets out to make amends. You go through the film hating the male protagonist, however you feel for him and his pain as the story unfolds. 

Suzume

As the skies turn red and the planet trembles, Japan stands on the brink of disaster. However, a determined teenager named Suzume sets out on a mission to save her country. Able to see supernatural forces that others cannot, it's up to her to close the mysterious doors that are spreading chaos across the land. A perilous journey awaits as the fate of Japan rests on her shoulders. The scenery, music, characters and animation were beautiful! A lot of laughs and gripping story too! I loved it. 

Perfect Blue

A teenager battles life transitioning from being a popstar to being an actress, while a stalker is after her. It's dark, stunning, thought provoking. Check it out!

NOOOOOOOOOOOO! STOP!!!! "But Scott, there's no price on this item, so is it free?" LORD GIVE ME STRENGTH, If this was the case I think a lot of people including myself would be snagging the item and walking away happy....NO OF COURSE IT IS NOT FREE! Please do not say this classic line, even if it is tempting because the retail worker will only fake laugh and be raging and swearing inside their own head and behind your back when you leave their general area. Thank you.

DON'T TRY A MASSIVE SHOP WITHIN THE LAST 10 MINS OF THE SHOPS OPEN TIME!

Please be mindful of the workers and do not commence a big shop when the shop is about to close because this makes you look like the biggest liar on the planet. "Oh but I won't be long, I'm only going in and out for 5mins." Sir we are about to close in 2 mins, so why did you leave it so late? Please refrain from taking the piss, ta.

SUN'S OUT, WHAT A SHAME FOR YOU!

Please be respectful to those who work in retail in those extremely heated conditions. "Oh it's a gorgeous day init? Shame you have to be stuck here eh?" Oh wow, thanks mate for noticing the fact that I am stuck here, inside, bored working for 8 hours mindlessly and sweating out of every hole on my body while you have freedom and can keep yourself cool in these conditions. That always means a lot :D

HOW CAN YOU WORK OVER CHRISTMAS?! WHAT ABOUT YOUR FAMILY?

Please be mindful of your words. "Why are you working all over Christmas? Where's your family?!" Well Sharlene I lost my family when I was little due to an accident over Christmas holidays, and so I am forced to work to keep shoppers like you happy, all the while keeping my mind off my troubles for rude people who wish to criticize strangers because you have nothing better to do. Thanks for giving me a great Christmas present in your rudeness and so THAT'S WHY WE ARE OPEN!

You can work now if you want? I mean there's a big queue, and we need more people to work today so why not eh Kev?! We do not get to decide who works here with us and when and 95% of the time have no idea when Jobs are going with us? So uh keep to those online job recruitment sites please.

Finally, do not treat our work place like a rubbish tip. It is not your own home! YOU do not have to clean up shit from the blocked toilets, you don't have to fix displays and shelves, you don't have to spend hours scrubbing off graffiti. Please have some respect and decency!

Best concert attended: Rammstein! (I am sorry but how could I not place this at number 1)

Best Live Event Attended: WWE CLASH AT THE CASTLE! (A long crazy fun day out, and it was all filmed and broadcast live, so I was a part of History.)

10: Chyna

She's the 9th Wonder Of The World, she put the men and women in their places and happily beat up any man or woman who stood in her way. R.I.P. Chyna we miss you.

9: Aleister Black (NXT theme)

Although Malakai Black is more scary to look at, just imagine how unnerving it must be to see this heavily tatted man rise up like a vampire or something out of the living dead with this heavy metal track playing him to the ring! He's a total badass, and he will kick your head off and then raise your body back up by his mere feet and then kick your head off your shoulders again.

8: Awesome Kong

A force to not be messed with. She is one tough lady and would kick anyone's ass in a heartbeat!

7: Samoa Joe (2007 TNA Theme)

Samoa Joe is an absolute killer! Especially in his TNA run. People worldwide chant "Joe's Gonna Kill You!" for good reasons.

6: Brock Lesnar

Of course anytime this hits you got to be shitting yourself if you are going up against The Beast Incarnate! He's a stone-cold brawler, a killer warrior. He will fuck you up and make you wish you had never even imagined getting into the ring. Enjoy your trip to Suplex city bitch!

5: Abyss (2007 TNA theme)

The Monster Abyss is a whole lotta bad and a whole lotta monster. Unpredictable and powerful and more hardcore and crazier than anyone else here on this list. The Monster Abyss brings destruction everywhere he goes.

4: "The Demon" Finn Balor

Finn Balor is tough without his alter ego but when he snaps and unleashes The Demon well no one is safe.

3: The Fiend

Unpredictable, unnerving, strange, powerful and scary these are the words to describe the monster that is The Fiend. Just when you think Bray Wyatt could not get any more crazy and scary, you get him turned up into 11!

2: Kane (1997-1999)

Bah gawd, that's gotta be, THAT'S GOTTA BE KANE! The Big Red Machine era to be precise was the most monstrous he was.

1: The Undertaker

Of course this legend has to be number 1. He can appear anywhere anytime just listen and beware of the gong!

Babymetal Cardiff February 20th 2020

Myself and my wonderful beautiful girlfriend went to see Babymetal at Cardiff's great hall on 20th feb 2020!

With support from Creeper who were pretty good but Babymetal were amazing and i'd love to see again they are so cute fun and energetic! Cardiff's the great hall is under some work at the moment which made the queuing in a mess but hey got inside in plenty of time. 

The set was short but sweet. I recorded little bits not much as i kept running out of storage :( but what i got was epic!

What I wrote on social media: "29th January was a unique new experience in going to a concert with my girlfriend and for first time in BIRMINGHAM. Long day, but it was a good performance and concert from the Jonas Brothers and the support acts. I love my baby and her family so much and I am so thankful and grateful for the opportunity to go to Birmingham with her and share that experience together, much love!"

I attended this concert and it was very unique experience and it was a good concert and a great fun day out and i enjoyed and it. Myself and my girlfriend went to see The Jonas Brothers! 

It was the first concert i have seen with my girlfriend and my first pop concert so it was a different unique experience but overall we both enjoyed!!! What was so unique? Besides it being the first concert i attended with my girlfriend and besides it being in a different city and country and besides the audience being different from what i have been used to at metal gigs? Oh hmmm i don't know, i can't quite put my finger on it hahaha. Just kidding of course but all those besides above are what made it so unique and a new experience for me really. 

We travelled up to Birmingham and the way back home took ages due to some ridiculous road works and closures but we did it and i went onto another gig the next day!!! 

So yes i would see them again with my beautiful Mrs :D

My Top 10 Wrestling Entrance Themes (I'd use if i was a pro wrestler)

So for a bit of fun being as I love both wrestling and music, what 10 song's would I use as an entrance theme? Ever wondered what you'd walk out to?

I'll attempt to name 10 and try to deliver what i'd do for the entrance and if i'd be a good guy with that theme or a bad guy. It's going to be a short but fun list. I want you to do your own too! So let's have some fun and let's play this game! One song per band/artist too just to make thing's have more variety :D

10: Scum Of The Earth - Rob Zombie. 

So i'd be a bad guy with this and just in your face heel but disrespectful to and spit at the floor near people and do a bit of headbanging when i get in the ring. You want an autograph sure i'll sign a picture for ohh no I've torn it up what a shame you lose kid. "Hey, I'm breathing, Hey, I'm bleeding, Hey, I'm screaming, Scum of the earth, COME ON!"

9: Up Around The Bend - CCR. 

Face i'd be a fun time guy, dancing singing interacting with audience dancing with them, moving to the groovin around the bend you know. "Come on the risin' wind, We're goin' up around the bend"

8: Walk - Pantera. 

I'd be a tweener i could use this as both heel and face just a simple badass stroll to the ring. You can't be something you're not, Be yourself by yourself, Stay away from me, A lesson learned in life, Known from the dawn of time".

7: I Will Be Heard - Hatebreed. 

Heel disrespectful in your face aggression entrance. "NOW IS THE TIME, FOR ME TO RISE TO MY FEET!"

6: Square Hammer - Ghost. 

Darkness with lights flashing green as the music kicks in i arrive onto the stage corpse face painted and in long black flowing robes, walking holding an urn to the ring and which when i take a lid off it projects a demon in the middle of the ring as i take off my robe and then i put the urn lid back on and all lights are on as normal and i am ready to go. "Still you call on me for entrance to the shrine
Hammering the nails, Into a sacred coffin, You call on me for powers clandestine".

5: Personal Jesus - Depeche Mode

A pastor like character who is a heel he believes he is holier than thou. "Reach out and touch faith!"

4: It's My Life - Bon Jovi. 

Entrance similar to Jericho's but with led jacket saying its my life scrolled across the back and on my shades. Face entrance happy party have fun. "Luck ain't enough, You've got to make your own breaks, It's my life, And it's now or never".

3: Boom Boom Boom Boom - Vengaboys
Proper face happy dance time to get a great fun atmosphere going with the crowd with a classic slice of cheesy partying tune.

2: Indestructible - Disturbed. 

Sirens blare the lights blaze flashing blue as a spot light goes all around the arena and then it kicks in as i exit through the curtain with a hood over my head. Slowly looking round making my way to the ring. A bit of a tweener this one too. When i get to the ring ropes i pull of my hood revealing my face and get in the ring flexing when it says "indestructible master of war".

1: Wherever I May Roam - Metallica.

Start in darkness with smoke covering and soon as we hit the drums the lights flicker to the beat and we get to the 50 second mark of the song and out i come beating my chest to the beat. I'd encourage others to join in and be a face with this song, singing this song as i walk to the ring and around the ring as the lyrics echo "call me what you will" i will be in the ring and the lights will all light up and the smoke will stop.

So that's my list and i'm sticking to it, for now at least, this has been fun, love to hear yours :D

The Scotties Awards 2018!

Hello ladies, gentleman, binary and non. Welcome to the first ever and maybe annual awards I am now issuing on my blog. The Scotties are just imaginary awards I will give out to the best things I have read, listened to, seen, played etc of the past year.

What a year, so many up's and downs in all media's so without further ado; 

Let The Scotties Awards begin!

Scotties Spotify Top Song Of The Year: So I love music but who doesn't and this year we have been presented with so many tunes and Spotify has kindly helped me in piecing together 3 contenders for my top song of the year and this could mean one of these 3 songs I have listened to the most this year. The nominations are: The Guess Who - Laughing, Jaroslav Beck - $100 Bills and Hugh Jackman & Zac Efron - The Other Side. And the winner is...........THE OTHER SIDE BY HUGH JACKMAN AND ZAC EFRON APART OF THE GREATEST SHOWMAN SOUNDTRACK! A huge surprise hit of the year both film and music wise as it took the nation and our cinemas by storm a well deserved winner.

Scotties New Fave Band Of The Year: So many bands old and new have come into my life this year and well as hard as it is to pick a winner out of so many this award goes to the band I have listened to most and this goes to the mighty SABATON!

Scotties Most Listened To Album Of The Year: Many choices here but the one which sticks out the most that I have listened to is my boys of 21 Pilots with their newest album TRENCH! 

Scotties Meme Of The Year: Another year has passed and so has so many memorable, funny and cringey memes but one stuck out the most to me and made the most impact this year and that is.....UGANDAN KNUCKLES! 

Scotties Game Of The Year: Oh this is the big one here with so many contenders this year I will admit I only play PS4 but don't worry I will also have a PS4 exclusive category next up. Right with so many heavy hitting games this year it's a tough choice however the winner is.......RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2! 

Scotties PS4 Game Of The Year: So many heavy hitting contenders here and of course no doubts here that PS4 had the best year in gaming and has the best exclusives but up for this exciting award are the following amazing games: Detroit Become Human, God Of War and Spiderman. These games are all winners let me say that first of all but out of them my fave exclusive this year was.......SPIDER-MAN! 

Scotties Multiplayer Game Of The Year: Not going to lie but this choice was incredibly easy to make granted that i have spent almost 400 hours on the game this year with my bessie mates Jared and James and the winner of course is........FORTNITE!

Scotties TV Show Of The Year: I admit I don't watch many tv shows anymore but this award goes to.....THE FLASH!

Scotties Actor Of The Year: So many amazing actors but one actor I have seen the most this year and has delivered on every performance and there's one that stands out the most and this award goes to the wearer of the Infinity Gauntlet himself......JOSH BROLIN!

Scotties Actress Of The Year: Just like the best actor category this year we have seen amazing talented actresses and again for me the one who stood out most is.......TESSA THOMPSON!

Scotties Film Of The Year: So many amazing films this year such as Game Night, A Quiet Place, Upgrade, The Shape Of Water, Bohemian Rhapsody, Searching, Bumblebee, Into the Spiderverse, Infinity War and Deadpool 2 to name but a few of the best we have had this year and so with all of these in mind my overall winner should come to no surprise because of how much love and praise I gave it earlier this year and it was not me either that gave this film a lot of praise, critics and academies alike gave it many awards and without further babbling from me the winner is......THE SHAPE OF WATER!

Pursued by a Memory, A Deer i see when i sleep apart of the wolves one of the clan,

Unusual sights, mysterious people, on the run escaping our ego's, We're wise men outlawed for wanting more, Botching a simple job we ran for the hills, leaving our gold in hope for freedom and more,

May I stand an pay a social call, to get the money back from those who owe,

May i stand revolver at my side, Ready to pull, ready to die,

May i stand tall and grow,

This is the new south, The deer stands alone wild and free as our clan grows bigger as our bellies are double to feed, A man i once tried to kill and mistreated saved my life, 

My sweet lost flame has returned to my arms seeking a man i'm not but secretly am, 

It's an honest mistake to make, I've got friends in very low places those whom are shady and benevolent or so it would seem, 

May i take a pretty short walk into town, May i groom and raise my horse well in the stables, 

May i have no fury nor savagery be unleashed, May I be welcomed to the new world fresh and a new man, May i kill for defence and not for rage, May i change and become a decent man and change those i call friends, May there be honour amongst thieves, May we be our best selves,

I started writing this as a self hype inspiring post regards to sticking with a shelf stacking job i hate and putting up with their venom how i want to end the victimisation i am facing as a shelf stacker and then i came out with the phrase "American Venom" which happens to be the name of a mission in RDR 2 and went from there changing things and adding lots more to do a poem about Arthur and his life. 

HALLOWEEN HOLIDAY HISTORY! - Let's Make Halloween Great Again!

Oh I do wish people would stop blabbering their lips like fish. Yapping their gums about Christmas from the summer time to now they prioritise it over another day which used to be seen as a great holiday but now it's seen as a excuse to dress up and get drunk and this holiday happens at the 31st October every year. Halloween.

My friends Halloween as a child was a special time it's where not only would the day itself be spooky but there would be a great build up of spookiness and creepy shows and decorations and costumes would fill up our tvs, shops and homes to be paranormal instead of well normal and trick r treating was beast unless you got bullied or treats got pinched that night of hallows eve.

As you get older into the Teens you see the point in dressing up fun still but to trick or treat is not on the menu because social anxiety and laziness but you appreciate the horrifying films and TV shows that would air this season.

When your an adult we should be still in love with the horror movies on this month and that dressing up is still fun but now everyone is on about Christmas this and Santa that every day, every month, every year and even on Christmas they are like "oh can't wait for the next one" yes you can lay down off the eggnog and come do your dooty and get spooky with me as I explore the origins of this once great day known as....

HALLOWEEN

So 31st October is celebrated yearly and known as a holiday called Halloween but did you know that Halloween originated with that of an ancient Celtic festival called; Samhain and in that festival people would light bonfires, and wear costumes to fight off any evil spirits that lurked near by. In the 8th century Pope Gregory 3 declared November first to be All Saints Day and this had a lot of the same traditions as Samhain and so the evening before was known as All Hallows Eve and later became Halloween. Overtime this holiday evolved into what we see today a day of sweets and other activities in costumes and pumpkin carving and bobbing for apples etc.

Back to Samhain now where the Celts on November 1st celebrate their annual new year and this was all some like 2 thousand years ago. November first marked the end of summer and the harvest and that the winter meant the beginning of the dark and cold season, a time of year that was often associated with human death to them. The Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31 they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the spirits of the dead returned to earth. Celts thought that the presence of the otherworldly spirits made it easier for their Druids, or priests, to make predictions about the future. For people entirely dependent on the volatile natural world, these prophecies were an important source of comfort and direction during the long, dark winter so the Druids/Priests would build big bonfires they considered sacred and gathered people round them to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to their gods and the Celts would all wear costumes of animal skins and heads and tried to reassure one another by telling each other their futures. This sounds pretty bonkers don't it? Well when the celebration was over, they re-lit their fires, which they had extinguished earlier that evening, from the sacred bonfire to help protect them during the winter.

Now if you are wondering, "where the bloody hell did bobbing for apples come from?" well fear not for I have googled and I shall reveal it to you right here. In 43AD the Romans conquered the Celts well the majority at least, the Romans had two festivals which joined with Samhain. The first was Feralia, which was a day in late October when the Romans traditionally commemorated the passing of the dead. The second was a day to honour Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruit and trees. The symbol of Pomona is the apple, and the incorporation of this celebration into Samhain, explains the tradition of “bobbing” for apples that is practised today on Halloween. So that's pretty interesting huh?

Now I referenced All Saints Day above somewhere and it's time to dive into that quickly. On May 13, 609AD, Pope Boniface IV dedicated the Pantheon in Rome in honour of all Christian martyrs, and the Catholic feast of All Martyrs Day was established in the Western church. Pope Gregory 3 would later expand the festival to include All Saints as well as All Martyrs, and moved the observance from May 13 to November 1.Now in the 9th century the influence of Christianity had spread into Celtic lands, where it gradually blended with the older Celtic rites. In 1000AD, the church would make November 2 All Souls’ Day, a day to honour the dead. All Souls Day was celebrated similarly to Samhain, with big bonfires, parades, and dressing up in costumes as saints, angels and devils. The All Saints Day celebration was also called All-hallows or All-hallowmas and the night before it, the traditional night of Samhain in the Celtic religion, began to be called All-Hallows Eve and, eventually, Halloween.

ORIGINS OF HALLOWEEN TRADITIONS!

In terms of Bad Luck; We avoid crossing paths with black cats, afraid that they might bring us bad luck. This idea has its roots in the Middle Ages, when many people believed that witches avoided detection by turning themselves into black cats. We try not to walk under ladders for the same reason. This superstition may have come from the ancient Egyptians, who believed that triangles were sacred (it also may have something to do with the fact that walking under a leaning ladder tends to be fairly unsafe). And around Halloween, especially, we try to avoid breaking mirrors, stepping on cracks in the road or spilling salt.

Origin of the Jack O Lantern: A fun fall activity, carving Jack-o'-lanterns actually has its roots in a sinister, tragic fable. Celtic folklore tells the tale of a drunken farmer named Jack who tricked the devil, but his trickery resulted in him being turned away from both the gates of heaven and hell after he died. Having no choice but to wander around the darkness of purgatory, Jack made a lantern from a turnip and a burning lump of coal that the devil had tossed him from hell. Jack, the story goes, used the lantern to guide his lost soul; as such, the Celts believed that placing Jack-o'-lanterns outside would help guide lost spirits home when they wander the streets on Halloween. Originally made using a hollowed-out turnip with a small candle inside, Jack-o'-lanterns' frightening carved faces also served to scare evil spirits away. When the Irish potato famine of 1846 forced Irish families to flee to North America, the tradition came with them. Since turnips were hard to come by in the states at the time, pumpkins were used as a substitute.

Halloween Bats: Medieval folklore also described bats as witches' familiars, and seeing a bat on Halloween was considered to be quite an ominous sign. One myth was that if a bat was spotted flying around one's house three times, it meant that someone in that house would soon die. Another myth was that if a bat flew into your house on Halloween, it was a sign that your house was haunted because ghosts had let the bat in.

Halloween Spiders; A common source of fear, spiders make for creepy, crawly Halloween staples. They join the ranks of bats and black cats in folklore as being evil companions of witches during medieval times. One superstition held that if a spider falls into a candle-lit lamp and is consumed by the flame, witches are nearby. And if you spot a spider on Halloween, goes another superstition, it means that the spirit of a deceased loved one is watching over you.

Hallowed Cauldrons: The pagan Celts believed that after death, all souls went into the crone's cauldron, which symbolised the Earth mother's womb. There, the souls awaited reincarnation, as the goddess' stirring allowed for new souls to enter the cauldron and old souls to be reborn. That image of the cauldron of life has now been replaced by the steaming, bubbling, ominous brew.

The Witch's Broomstick; This is another superstition that has its roots in medieval myths. The elderly, introverted women that were accused of witchcraft were often poor and could not afford horses, so they navigated through the woods on foot with the help of walking sticks, which were sometimes substituted by brooms. English folklore tells that during night-time ceremonies, witches rubbed a "flying" potion on their bodies, closed their eyes and felt as though they were flying. The hallucinogenic ointment, which caused numbness, rapid heartbeat and confusion, gave them the illusion that they were soaring through the sky.

The traditional Halloween colours: These consist of orange and black actually stem from the pagan celebration of autumn and the harvest, with orange symbolising the colours of the crops and turning leaves, while black marks the "death" of summer and the changing season. Over time, green, purple and yellow have also been introduced into the colour scheme of Halloween decorations.

Trick Or Treat?; It surprisingly came from Irish and English traditions, Americans began to dress up in costumes and go house to house asking for food or money, a practice that eventually became “trick-or-treat” tradition. Young women believed that on Halloween they could divine the name or appearance of their future husband by doing tricks with yarn, apple parings or mirrors. Wish they would still believe this haha. In the 1800s, there was a move in America to mold Halloween into a holiday more about community and neighbourly get-togethers than about ghosts, pranks and witchcraft. At the turn of the century, Halloween parties for both children and adults became the most common way to celebrate the day. Parties focused on games, foods of the season and festive costumes. However parents were encouraged by newspapers and community leaders to take anything “frightening” or “grotesque” out of Halloween celebrations. Because of these efforts, Halloween lost most of its superstitious and religious overtones by the beginning of the twentieth century. And we thought today's standards are too P.C. this clearly is the origin of the butthurt society sad times.
