Aberfan Disaster - 60 years on. Original poem by SJones

It was the 21st October 1966, children were at school and teachers were doing the registration. As child after child would answer the teacher saying "Ydw" to mark them being present and ready for their school day.

A rumble could be felt that grew stronger and stronger....louder and louder...

Suddenly outside the windows of the class, children could see what looked to be the mountain near the school, it was falling apart, it crumbled fast.

The mud had in seconds consumed the school with a loud crash, as windows were smashed and parts of the building collapsed.

Children and adults were buried beneath the slurry of coal and mud. Villagers of Aberfan were looking confused and wondered about the massive thud.

Thousands of villagers, nearby miners and even those far and wide came to help to aid the men, women and children affected by the disaster. No matter how quick they assembled lives burned away faster.

144 lives were lost that day. 28 adults and 116 childrens lives all swept away. May we never forget the lives lost, and the display of bravery that day.

For their memories live on, though the years pass us by. Their names held in our hearts, beneath our beautiful Welsh sky.

Aberfan, we remember and we'll never forget you.

Street Fighter 26 Film Review - Street Talkin

Ready? FIGHT!

STREET FIGHTER (2026) is set in 1993 and features the best fighters from all around the world to take part in M. Bisons worldwide warrior tournament which will crown the best fighter as champion of the world. It's directed by Kitao Sakurai.
First things first, I'm not a big Street Fighter fan. I know only ever so little about the lore and series. I have also only ever played Street Fighter 1 and 2 games.

Right so the 2026 Street Fighter Movie......It's good but, It could have been greater.

The animated pieces were amazing and I could have done with a full animated movie with this cast more so than this.

Story and direction was messy. Soundtrack great but it's not accurate with the time setting. Having 2000s music in an 1993 set film is just nonsense but hey this film didn't exactly take itself seriously......at times anyway.

I love David Dastlmaian (sorry I can't spell his last name off top of my head) but his Bison wasn't it. He needed a muscle suit and needed to be more sociopathic than just cringe creepy with his fetishes.

Ken was portrayed as mostly useless until it counted. I could have done with more Guile and Cody Rhodes knocked it out of the park. Why the fuck did they cut his fight?! There was fights cut in the tournament and that made me mad.

Blanka although Jason Mamoa was just playing himself as a CGI electrified Hulk. I am not a fan of Blanka back story and preferred the 90s version where he was a modified super soldier. Roman Reigns was also BRILLIANT!

I thought the cast was great. HONDA should have had more time and fights. Cammy should have had a fight. I liked Jill, I think that was her name (bison's staff baddie)

Casting was actually good besides Eric Andre 😂 I think a stronger story and different direction and it would have been greater.

Action is great, I really enjoyed it. There's an interesting after credits scene but we will see if it ever goes anywhere.

It's not as bad as most reviews make it out to be. I'm also not a big SF fan but I enjoyed this. I enjoyed the 90s movie more but still decent....
