Pre-Order: A Man Named Steve

A Man Named Steve
A story by Scott Jones
Is a short story based upon real events aimed towards young children.
Teaching them the values of having a kind heart and helping others out.

The story is based upon a good friend who is no longer with us and how he always had so much care and love for everyone and to have opened up his heart and home to two vulnerable children and adopt them and raise them as his own.

"Because Steve was a husband, a friend, and a dad,
The very best family anyone could have had. For families are built with kindness and care,
And Steve’s big heart had love to spare."

(This book features images based on real events and some real images, they have been put through a.i. to make them child friendly for the book.)

A Meeting With Dr. Rudefellows.

Story Time:

I've been battling a sore throat for 2 weeks now. The past few days it's got worse. It's swollen left side and hurts when I swallow. I was unable to seek gp help Thursday when I felt it was at its worst state and local pharmacies were no help either.

I went to a pharmacy 10mins away and got seen quickly and the pharmacist was so lovely and down to earth. Making jokes aswell as sharing his own experiences. Unfortunately he didn't really know what is my issue but my left side glands are definitely swollen and he fast tracked me and appointment with my GP the next day. Thanks again Dr Chris.

However, I still needed to call my GP to set it up. So today this morning 8am I was constantly ringing my gp and after 30 calls and 45mins trying I finally got through and had an appointment for 2:15 so I attended said appointment on time and the Dr who seen me, I'll be honest was absolutely terrible.

Dr Amy (I think her name was) just couldn't wait to get me out of the room. She asked me to sit down and she checked my good side and said all was fine. She didn't bother checking my ear on left side smh. She asked me to relax my tongue so she can see down my throat and said I need to relax it more. I then asked her to check my glans because the pharmacist said he could see straight away how red and raised my left side was by my neck and jaw and Amy went to go check but she said "You should have trimmed your beard before coming, I can't see anything with this in the way" and I thought that's rude but I jokingly went with it and said "oh you should have asked me to do it before I came in" and she said "hmm yes well it feels a little hot and swollen" and then came the stick down the throat and no luck she didn't seem to know what the issue was just that I'd be prescribed some sort of penicillin. She said "if the smell of food or chewing food makes your glan swell more it's so dangerous and life threatening that you need to see A&E straight away."

Ok no worries will do doc and then when I asked her if she doesn't mind looking at another issue, this time it was my legs. I had asked if she have a quick look and see what she thinks and she sighed and said "make it quick" and so I did and she just said "I've no idea maybe your legs have swollen lymph nodes or you have a case of lymphoedema but I couldn't tell you for sure." She should have just said "Mr Jones, sorry I am unable to look into anything else other than your sore throat at the moment" rather than be rude and seemingly annoyed of my existence there. I hate Drs who only seem to be doing it for the money, those ones with no single care for their patients.

In the end I walked away with a prescription and I'm taking it and see how we go. Hopefully I'll be better and good again by bank holiday Monday. 🤞

MORTAL KOMBAT 2 - MOVIE REVIEW (A NEAR FLAWLESS FATALITY)

Mortal Kombat II, directed by Simon McQuoid, follows Earthrealm’s fighters as they finally enter the brutal Mortal Kombat tournament against Shao Kahn and the forces of Outworld. The sequel introduces Johnny Cage as a major new hero while characters like Kitana, Scorpion, Liu Kang, and Raiden battle to stop Earthrealm from being conquered.
Alright listen up, I'll be upfront and honest, this is better than the first but still a way off from being a Flawless victory.

Please bring me a Johnny Cage / Kano buddy cop team up movie. That would be five stars easily. Also Baraka, funny af. Add him to the buddy cop movie. Best fight is probably Liu Kang Vs [REDACTED]. That one felt like two players going at it.

The film is very much Kitana's. Liu Kang is pretty much a background character unfortunately. Cole Young gets like 10mins of screen time total and it's a shame they listened to the fans about it. I do like Cole I like his power but if they doubled down and just added to him they could have redeemed him for fans.

Fights, blood, humour was wicked. Story was meh at best of times. The tournament fell to the background while the pressing matters of seeking an amulet took over. The tournament I wish had more of an arena feels to it rather than "levels" or "stages". Shao Kahn I wish talked more shit to his opponents. Kano I wish had his cyborg eye. Sindel was useless. Great Ed Boon cameo.

The theme song always slaps, overall I had a pretty good time with this and hopefully we get more from this cinematic universe.

A video message from Tai aka Joshua Seth.

I requested a cameo video message from Joshua Seth who voices Tai. I was just telling him that I was a big fan of his work as Tai and that as a kid I gave myself the middle name of Tai.
I also asked him for a good ol' fashioned Tai pep talk to digivolve in the gym.

Four Seasons In Five Minutes - Original song by SJones

 [Verse 1]

Put my shorts on

Sky looked kinda nice

Mam said take your coat

I should’ve took her advice

One step out the door

Ah

Lovely bit of blue

By the time I reach the corner shop

I’m soaked straight through

[Chorus]

Weather in Wales is on the wine again

Raining on my head

Then sun

Then hailstones

Then

Snow on my driveway

Sun on my face

Thermals in July

This land’s a state

Yeah

Weather in Wales

It’s lost the plot today

Four seasons in five minutes

Then it does it all again

[Verse 2]

Suncream on my nose

Then the sky just screams

Pebbles from the clouds

Bouncing off my jeans

Blink and it’s December

White on every car

Next blink

Neighbour’s in a deckchair

Grilling like a star (what’s going on?)

[Chorus]

Weather in Wales is on the wine again

Raining on my head

Then sun

Then hailstones

Then

Snow on my driveway

Sun on my face

Thermals in July

This land’s a state

Yeah

Weather in Wales

It’s lost the plot today

Four seasons in five minutes

Then it does it all again

[Bridge]

One day warm

Next day Baltic cold

I dress in layers

Like I’m 90 years old

Flip-flops

Scarf

Gloves and shades as well

Pack for a weekend

To walk to Tesco’s shelf (hey!)

[Chorus]

Weather in Wales is on the wine again

Raining on my head

Then sun

Then hailstones

Then

Snow on my driveway

Sun on my face

Thermals in July

This land’s a state

Yeah

Weather in Wales

It’s properly on the pull

Four seasons in five minutes

And they all turn up in full

Project Hail Mary FILM REVIEW

A Wail Of A Time! 🪨👎
Project Hail Mary is based on the novel by Andy Weir and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and it delivers a compelling mix of science, suspense, comedy, and surprisingly heartfelt moments. It’s a story that manages to feel both epic in scale and deeply personal at the same time. Going into this film, there was a lot of hype, especially because of the massive success of Weir’s previous adaptation, The Martian. Add Ryan Gosling as the lead, and expectations were understandably high, particularly with it being based on another well-loved Weir novel.

The movie follows Ryland Grace, a man who wakes up alone on a spaceship with no memory of who he is or how he got there. As his memories gradually return, he discovers he’s on a last-chance mission to save Earth from certain annihilation. From that point on, the film becomes a tense survival story filled with problem-solving, discovery, humour, heartfelt moments, and unexpected twists.

I went into Project Hail Mary not really knowing what to expect (I haven’t read the book) but it honestly surprised me in a good way. One thing I really enjoyed was how the film made the science interesting instead of boring. Normally that kind of thing can drag, but here it actually made me more invested because you’re basically solving the problems alongside him.

Much like The Martian, it focuses on realistic scientific challenges but presents them in a way that feels engaging rather than overwhelming. Each breakthrough feels rewarding. Also, for an end-of-the-world type film, it doesn’t lean too heavily into dread or existential crisis like others in the genre, which was refreshing.

The lead character is another highlight. Ryland Grace isn’t your typical action hero, he’s relatable, often unsure, and occasionally overwhelmed. That makes his journey feel more grounded and believable, which adds to the emotional impact.

Visually, the film captures the isolation of space really well while still keeping things engaging. There’s also a strong emotional core that develops as the story progresses, adding depth beyond just survival and science.

It’s also great to see practical effects and puppetry being used. Rocky (our beloved rock friend) is easily one of the heart and soul elements of the film. Honestly, we love you Rocky, you are amaze, amaze, amaze. His audio design was incredible, and the soundtrack was beautiful too.

Overall, Project Hail Mary is an intelligent and engaging sci-fi film that offers more than just spectacle. It’s a story about survival, problem-solving, and connection in the most unexpected circumstances. It’s also a genuinely fun watch and a great big-screen experience, it's a film that you need to see on the big screen. A must-watch for fans of smart, character-driven sci-fi, especially if you enjoyed The Martian, Ryan Gosling, or Andy Weir’s work

Things That I Do - Original song lyrics by SJones

[Verse 1]

Boots sink deep in the frozen ground

Mud on our faces

Smoke all around

You pass me bread with a shaking hand

Say

"Son, Hold tight to whatever you can"

[Chorus]

We fight the dark with borrowed light

Side by side in the broken night

If this is where our last stand lands

I’ll meet my fate with your name in my hands

Father and son in a stolen time

Two shadows stuck on the same thin line

If I fall first

If you fall too

I’ll carry you home in the things that I do

[Verse 2]

Shells write fire on a paper sky

You shout my name as the dirt flies high

We dive together in the shattered rain

Your shoulder pressed to my ribs like a chain

You say

"If I go, Boy, Don’t stand still, Walk out of this with your stubborn will"

I see the fear that you try to hide

Same brown eyes as mine

Just a little more tired

[Chorus]

We fight the dark with borrowed light

Side by side in the broken night

If this is where our last stand lands

I’ll meet my fate with your name in my hands

Father and son in a stolen time

Two shadows stuck on the same thin line

If I fall first

If you fall too

I’ll carry you home in the things that I do

[Bridge]

Morning creeps in through the wire and bones

Rats and letters and dents in our souls

You show me a picture

Creased and worn

A baby boy in your arms by the door

"That was you"

you laugh through the cold

"All the reason I ever had to grow old"

Now we’re here

Same coat

Same name

Praying this mud forgets our faces and our age

[Chorus]

We fight the dark with borrowed light

Side by side in the broken night

If this is where our last stand lands

I’ll meet my fate with your name in my hands

Father and son in a stolen time

Two shadows stuck on the same thin line

If I walk out and you’re not through

I’ll carry you home in the things that I do

(yeah) I’ll carry you home in the things that I do

Being A Dad In Pregnancy Is Hard

No one ever told me how much I'd be asked daily so many questions about my unborn child. No one prepared me for the annoyance of so many voices and so many people trying to have their say on an unborn child that's not theirs or even related to them.
The easy part was all the appointments and running around and gathering items ready for the baby. The hard part was dealing with people.

That last one is so confusing, well let me tell you how annoying it is, to work retail and serve and see the same customers almost every day who pester you for news and information about your baby. I told you yesterday Charlotte, the baby is fine still cooking no news!!!

Stop sending me name suggestions when I don't ask. I appreciate you wanted to call your boy or girl this name or that name and ended up with another but I don't want your names. I want to give them one of me and my partner choosing.

I have told you a due date, please stop asking me when they are due.

I have also told you their gender because so many voices "needed" to know what he is going to be. Why do you "need" to know? We don't want you to go out and buy things for us, we appreciate the thought but please save your money, a card would be fine to say congratulations. That's not me being rude I just don't want people being silly about it, a gender neutral outfit is lovely we do really appreciate it but again we don't want people throwing money away on us haha. Again I'm not trying to be ungrateful or anything, it's the opposite. I suppose this is a response to being overwhelmed. Not feeling like deserve it.

Where's the baby/how's the baby? Well when I was bombarded with this question every day before I went on my paternity leave, the answer was that he's still growing and ok and oh look I've already answered this question again.

"Tell me soon as they are born I need to know everything and you need to show me" - NO! Demands will be met with a FUCK OFF. Don't you dare say such stupid shit and make your demands it's MY BABY and not your circus monkey. This isn't show and tell. I'll tell and show when I'm fucking ready.

There's so much I've been asked and repeated daily and my baby is almost here and then I'll be back to work so I'll probably take note and be annoyed again at the repeat in questions again that make my head crumble.

Ballerina - A Brutal Film Review!

Well, well, well, what do we have here?
A strong female led assassin film set in the John Wick Universe. 🔫
How is it?
Well just like any stay at the continental, it's lovely and action packed. 💯

Ana was amazing and beautiful as always, may I say. Lance, we love you and miss you bro. Anjelica & McShane were great as always. Keanu was groovy as ever.

Explosive action that felt so much more brutal, and I'll say the only reason that is, because of a female character. Ana's character Eve is taught and told she has to bring the fight on her terms, or she'll always lose. Every punch, shot and explosion feels so much more impactful in this film. Eve adapts and overcomes power and height through the film and even big numbers of enemies. At one point the film felt like a snowy Resident Evil 4 as you had one outsider Vs a whole village of evil do'ers. 💥

The whole grenade scene was epic BUT unrealistic and yes I know, "how silly is it to nitpick a make believe film" granted but come on, there should have been more flak and damage done around the area😅

The John Wick aka Continental universe is still alive and thriving and let's hope before a John Wick 5 we get more stories set on different characters of the universe. Maybe one day then we can bring them all together and have an Avengers style John Wick film. 🤘😊

Karate Kid Legends - A Wax Off Review

Karate Kid Legends hosts a great cast but it's premise under delivers.

Ben has a bright future ahead, he was fantastic. Ralph felt like he came along for the quick paycheck during cobra Kai filming. Jackie Chan's, Han character felt so different from his last appearance in Smiths Karate Kid reboot. It would have been nice to have acknowledged Jayden Smiths character in some way.

This film is very much a homage to the first film yet sped up 5 times.

There's a part of the film our protagonist has a side quest and to train a former Boxer to get better and fight again and he does a good job and it was a different yet touching story, however once this arc is done we get back to speeding up the story of the next Karate Kid or rather Kung Fu kid since Mr Han teaches Kung Fu more than Karate ala Miyagi/Daniel-San.

They needed to make this film a 2 hour bout to build up more of the characters and story. Have the tournament play out in full not let's just cut to the end of the tournament where the bully fights our guy and that's it.

After credits scene was fantastic and fun. Hopefully this leads to more in future.

As it stands now with this film coming off the back of the massive success of Cobra Kai, KKL is poor in quality and is one of the weakest in the long running series.

3 wax ons out of 5 Daniel-san!

The Wild Robot - Review

After a shipwreck, an intelligent robot called Roz is stranded on an uninhabited island. To survive the harsh environment, Roz bonds with the island’s animals and cares for an orphaned baby goose.
THE WILD ROBOT represents the pinnacle of DreamWorks Animation. A wondrous tale of parenthood, survival, kindness & coexistence in our natural living world. With big-hearted storytelling, plenty of laughs, phenomenal voice acting, and a beautifully epic score that captures the grandeur of Chris Sanders’ vision, it’s a crowd-pleasing & emotionally stirring story that not only deserves to win Best Animated Feature but also to be nominated for Best Picture.

I loved it, the animation was great. I cried at the end. Furthermore, I want another one, please DreamWorks.

Transformers One - Review

The untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever.
At first glance the faces and animation looked weird, and the trailer looked to be some mediocre kids, fun house BUT then when you sit down and take the movie in, you feel and see how good this really is.

You know straight away how bad the marketing team did and that they should be ashamed of themselves for showing the wrong things in the trailers and the general audience should feel ashamed for letting this underperform at the box office.

I watched this twice in 24 hours in two different cinemas and I loved it. I could have done with less Bumblebee's quipping and "Badassatron" but other than that. Megatron and Optimus rise and downfall was so captivating. The music which accompanied this scene was also beautiful, poetic and moving.

I agreed and rooted for Megatron and then I cheered when Optimus was born and put metal to metal as he took on all the bad bots. We really need another one, there's so much we need to find out of what happens next. The Quintessans have been set up so we could have them face off along with the decepticons and also Unicron.

Transformers fans of all ages and non transformers fans, please give it a chance!

This is one of my fave movies of the year!

Deadpool & Wolverine - Fox Swan Song (FILM REVIEW)

Alright so after an agonising long wait, we finally got Deadpool & Wolverine on the big screen and our fave honey badger Australian in his iconic yellow suit. Joygasm!!!!🥵 Anyway time to explain the film's story and then touch upon my thoughts, LETS FUCKING GO!❤️💛❤️
Deadpool & Wolverine picks up few years after Deadpool 2 and Wade is retired and trying to live a normal life. However, Wades abuse of the time jumping and fixing has caught the attention of the TVA (some time line police agency for marvel) and so TVA tell Wade his universe is dying so Deadpool is forced to put on his big boy pants and has to save his world BUT we all know Deadpool only stops mini events at world domination and nothing as big as a world saver so Wade goes on a journey to recruit a Wolverine with attitude. Is it a good wolverine or a bad one he finds?🤔

On his time jumping journey we bump into familiar faces aswell as new and unexpected ones which is sure to get fans of all ages of all backgrounds excited and minds blown and their pants full so to speak😂 While trying to save his world our buddy's Wolverine and Deadpool scrap a few times and also run into Cassandra Nova and her band of mutant villains from all across the fox Xmen universe! Ooooh scary. Cassandra Nova is a pretty scary villain, she's an omega level mutant and she is the twin sister of a famous X-man. (I won't say more incase people don't know).🧐

So it's up to Deadpool and Wolverine to work together to save our "sacred timeline" but they are going to need a whole army to take down the likes of Cassandra Nova and her villainous mutants but who are they going to recruit? Find out by watching😊
So, the film I thought was great and basically fox's last stand or swan song essentially as we say hello and goodbye to their universes as Disney/Marvel owns the majority of them now. We have fabulous music choices and exciting over the top and hectic action sequences in between all the jokes and 4th wall breaks. The opening sequence was beautiful.

The action I felt was way too fast and I couldn't keep up at the best of times so another viewing is worth it to keep my eyes on someone else moving and killing in these action packed scenes. Cameos are good and in abundance, they should have not spoiled any of them in the trailers and some they did keep under wraps, thankfully. The action Choreography was incredible even if it was hard to keep up with watching. Shawn Levy did an incredible job with this film.

Wade and Logan are great and funny as always and as we could have ever imagined. The mouthy quippy whippy Deadpool meets our no nonsense stoic Wolverine and the characters are exactly as you expect. I wish we had some more time with our DEADPOOL friends from past two movies.

Lots of swearing and blood and gore. Here's hoping Deadpool is marvel jesus and ressurects the MCU otherwise I think MCU needs to do some more trimming and kill characters and films and things off to do a reset and hopefully focus on better stories and characters and overarching story telling.
Deadpool & Wolverine is the Spider-Man no way home of Deadpool and Wolverine's big screen outtings. A final send off to Fox's era of superheroes and an overall great movie.
9/10
Go enjoy it BUB!
