Predator: The Badlands Review!

Predator: Badlands is a sci-fi action film set on a harsh alien world where survival is everything. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg and staring Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster‑Koloamatangi. The story focuses on an unlikely alliance formed under extreme circumstances, blending action, adventure, and emotional depth without relying solely on the traditional “human hunt” formula. It’s a fresh take and a respectful nod to the classic Predator legacy in one action protein shake! 🍻

It's so refreshing and interesting how the film shifts perspective by making a Yautja (the Predator species) the main character (Dek), giving that creature nuance and emotion rather than purely a monster. The chemistry between Dek and the android Thia (played by Elle Fanning) are fantastic! They have a surprisingly entertaining odd-couple dynamic which worked great. There was moments Dek and Thia both made me laugh, it was amusing.

The alien planet Genna is astonishing and so beautiful, amazing world building and worlds shown along with Yautja Prime. The new creature designs, and the interaction of Predator lore are fresh for the franchise and a much welcome addition.

As a big long time predator fan myself it was so refreshing to see more of the Yautja clan and hearing them interact with eachother. My hat is off to the sound design behind that and to the cool distorted daft punk like soundtrack we get with them at times. Some fans of the Pred films may feel the film softens the “monster” and horror aspect too much by giving The Predator more emotion, vulnerability and a journey but there's still ferociousness here.

The action and spectacle are strong, the pacing does slow down when characters outside of our titular ones are on screen. The tone shift from the traditional 18 to a mere 12A feels odd with what prior Predator films delivered (horror, action, gritty) but it still works here. Score is fantastic and elevates the film, trust me the distorted Yautja type vocal music whatever you call it, I'm so hyped I can't even word right now about it but yes that slaps!

Predator: Badlands is a big bold evolution of the franchise. It's so good to have more substance to the Predator species. The 12A rating is a shocking step down from the Horror series 18 ratings in the past but there's still blood to be shed here. It's not your typical Predator horror hunt like the past entries, but it does take interesting risks and delivers fun, strong visuals, and a new emotional core. It signals that the franchise is moving into territory traditional Pred fans may not like which may divide fans but arguably in an exciting way.

Chainsawman: The Reze Arc Movie REVIEW!

With great chainsaws, comes great bloody mercy!

Gear up and get those chainsaws ready and get ready for an animated spectacle like no other with the devil hunters, a sharkboy, a literal bombshell and a gremlin chainsaw. That's right, so if you mix them up with some blood, heart pumping action and ass kicking music, and you get this film. If you have not watched the series, this film will just be flashy confusion, but you will get the gist as it goes along if you are a new fan. 

The film follows our main character Denji just after CSM (chainsaw man) season 1, Denji gets to go on a date with Makima, the woman of his dreams and his boss in the special division 4's devil hunters. A storm hits and as Denji takes shelter from the rain he meets Reze, a girl who works in a café, and this starts to give Denji conflicted feelings, But there's more than meets the eye to Reze. We have a romantic, comedic and conflicted feeling first half of the film before descending into absolute bloody chaos to the rest of the film. 

First off, the opening title music video SLAPS HARD. The visuals were spectacular and so creative. If you compare this film to last month's demon slayer movie, in terms of animation, I'd easily say demon slayer wins. However, chainsaw man was very creative with the lighting, effects and visuals overall.

Ryan Colt Levy I would say gave his best performance so far of his career. Reze as played by Alexis Tipton I'd also say delivered some of her best work too as Reze. Derick Snow as Beam was a new voice to me, and he delivered a great job, and me and my friend even thought that Sharkboy was voiced by Bruce Papenbrook because it was reminiscent of Insouke. Reagen Murdock as Aki was also top-notch. Of all the voice actors, I give them credit, but these stood out the most to me.

The comedy and the timing was perfect in this film and so on point, it really surprised me at how funny it was. The music was so bloody good, too, and I'm playing the music on repeat since my viewing of the film.

Overall I had a great time watching Chainsawman's big screen debut and I highly recommend it and if you just came in off the street to see the hype of a man with chainsaws for hands and head, well I think you'll still have a good time.

Demon Slayer movie: Infinity Castle REVIEW!

Kickin' demon cans all over the place....

Oh my god, this was worth the hype and then some!!!

So, Demon Slayer infinity castle the movie, what's it about?
We follow on from our fave demon slaying crew from the titular anime series, who make their final assault to go kill the big bad of the demons, MUZAN! However, it's not that simple as MUZAN springs a trap and gets all our slayers and Hashira trapped inside an endless castle that continues to shift and change and homes endless a horde of demons and the tough and scary Upper moon demons. Come see the thrilling fights and see who survives the night.

The fights oh my jumping johasaphats they were incredible with my most hyped being the best hands down with Akaza Vs Tanjiro & Giyu. Zenitsu Vs Kaigaku was so good too! The Doma first fight was great. One demon has probably the longest death on screen, it was crazy. Pacing is an issue, but we must remember this is a film. The TV series will flesh it out more.

For a part 1, this was solid gold and I can't wait for the next instalment. 

MUZAN WE COMING FOR YOUUUUUUU!!!!

The English dub cast was just spectacular, Akaza, Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Sayou voice actors were the obvious stand-outs. Music was 🔥 Visuals and animation was out of this world!!!

Overall a total contender for film of the year and one of the best anime films of all time!

MHA: You're Next Movie - Review!

Alright, it's finally time to sit back and kick butt as our beloved heroes of Class 1A return to the big screen. In the film, taking place after the U.A. Traitor arc of the manga, Izuku Midoriya faces a villain who tries to imitate the hero that Izuku has long admired the most.

For me, this is the weakest film in the series. It really should have released before the final season.

It's really good don't get me wrong, it's a love letter to class 1A, and it's lovely to see everyone get some spotlight.

Seeing the 3 musketeers fight side by side was hype, and I feel that's something that was cut from the last film. Should have ended the fight with "We are Here".

Animation and music was class. English dub cast do a fantastic job as ever. Dark Might and his family of goons was pretty cool. The mixture of quirks and alchemy was neat.

Pretty funny film and great side characters with Julio and Anna being the integral part of the story.

Before the final fight we do have a stand-off, and it left me in awe but also thinking "oh this isn't Dekus most powerful smash" then we have a bonus fight, and I was like "Jesus Christ that was Dekus powerful smash yet" as he broke a frigging island in half.

For me, nothing has topped the second film, I love that one so much. I do hope we get one more film, but I'm not quite sure where they will fit it in the timeline of events.

Joker Folie A Deux Review

The World Is A Stage. 

Joker folie a duex aka Joker: Madness For Two, it really should have been titled "

Joker 2: The Jokes On You".

5 years ago we were gifted the highest grossing R rated film in cinema history which was based upon a DC Comics character with a brand-new spin on things but also a film documenting mental health and the struggles of one with such disorders. It was a social study, a character study. It's absolutely amazing and gripping and ended with a smile.

Although we were told "Arthur is not THE JOKER" he is the predecessor, a mentally sick man who has a bad day and things get tipped on their head and the man who's seen as a joke gets dubbed live on TV as a JOKER so he takes it upon himself with pride to embrace and show to the world all the corruption and wrong doings of the world and the abuse that has rotten his mind and the mental conditions he suffers including his inappropriate timed infectious laughs. Keep in mind we were told he's not the one who's going to be the clown prince of crime, we were set up with the fact of there's a guy out there in Gotham who has inadvertently inspired someone to take the mantle up in the future and be the worst thing to happen to Gotham.

Yes Arthur Fleck story is very similar to Jack Napier's aka The Real DC Joker but with changes, this too is the same for one Harleen Quinsel. Oops, sorry, she's just Lee Quinsel in this. This film is taken from Arthur's mind as we switch in-between realities of him being a prisoner, him facing trial and finding love and then eventually coming out and admitting to his wrong doings and telling people he's not The Joker, and they shouldn't idolize him, he's not the symbol that the manic mob is seeking out, which does deter some of his fans. Although he still has a small loyal following, but I'm sure after this film ends they will disperse and wait until THE REAL JOKER appears.

Todd Phillips captured gold in the first story and logically thinking you could argue this film was made as a statement to fans of Arthur and the first Joker as a deterrent to say "Don't idolize this person. Don't be like this person. What you may relate to in that film I will make sure to tell you in the sequel how that's terrible and something you should not be doing and looking up to" and I will applaud him for that. I have questions about the ending, but I'm not sure if we will ever get answers.

Music, acting and cinematography is brilliant. The haunting score of the first does appear at times, but the new musical parts take over, and I feel personally that they should have mapped the musical elements out a lot better. I would have personally taken the direction differently.

The court scenes with The Joker were a highlight. Any scenes Arthur embraces that Joker stood out best to me. It did at times slow down a lot, and I was falling asleep, but I can also blame it on a late night and early morning I had.

Overall, Joker 2 is a whopping disappointment. It's not as bad as I had heard, but it's also not anywhere near as good as the first one. Go into it expecting it's bad, and you'll either hate it some more or you'll see the same as me.

Bluey & The Miscarriage And Infertility Episodes

So this post is going to cover two things about two important issues that are not widely discussed enough. Miscarriage and Infertility. How does a show aimed at kids deal with these topics? 

I'll tell you today and the reasons why they were brought up.

Brandy & Infertility

In the episode of Bluey titled "Onsies" Auntie Brandy, (Bluey's Auntie) visits for the first time in years. Chili's sister Brandy wants kids but unfortunately is unable to, that's why she stayed away from the family and her sister for years. It's difficult and traumatic and anxiety inducing for her to deal and think of kids, her inner turmoil and fall into depression kept Brandy away for so long, and she gives herself a prep talk just to see her family. Brandy and Chilli have a close bond despite her not visiting for 4 years. Brandy has Bluey and Bingo Onesies, and they don't fit either kid very well and Bluey asks her mum Chili to make it fit and Chili answers with a quick "it's not meant to be kiddo" which foreshadowed a lesson later in the episode. There's a few times Brandy tries to have a heart-to-heart with her sister, but the kids interrupt it because Bingo becomes more animalistic when she wears a onesie, which is pretty funny. It's possible the sisters bonded more so over the fact Chili had a miscarriage before Bluey was born also, but I'll touch on that in a bit. So the aforementioned foreshadow moment goes with Chili talking to Bluey saying "you know how you want bingos cheetah onesie, but it doesn't fit you, so you can't have it. There's something Auntie Brandy wants more than anything, but she can't have it and no one can do anything about it. She can't have the thing she wants because it's not meant to be." Brandy and Chili have a heart-to-heart and Chili makes sure she's not alone and cares about her and her well-being and isn't mad about not seeing her in 4 years and Brandy confirms it won't be so long til she sees them again and the two dance like they did as kids to make chilli's kids laugh and smile again.

Chilli & Miscarriage

In the episode "The Show" it takes place on Mother’s Day. Bingo, Bluey and Bandit bring Chilli breakfast in bed, but Bingo trips and spills the tray. Bingo runs from the room crying, and Chilli encourages her to have a little cry, pick herself up, dust herself off and carry on. “The show must go on,” Chilli says. Then Bluey has the idea to put on a play about how Bandit and Chilli met. The key moment in the episode happens when Bingo, playing Chilli, has a balloon under her shirt to represent Chilli’s pregnancy with Bluey. The girls get carried away horsing around, and the balloon pops.

Many parents instantly became obsessed with this moment, because the view turns from showing the balloon popping, to Bandit grabbing Chilli’s hand as her smile fades. We have confirmation from “Bluey” creator and writer Joe Brumm himself, thanks to the new book “Hard to Bear: Investigating the Science and Silence of Miscarriage,” by Isabelle Oderberg. There’s so little representation of miscarriage in pop culture, nonetheless in children’s programming. My realization upon knowing this was shock but also a feeling of pride because this topic which affects me, being a father of miscarriage'd babies, hit me. This topic isn't widely discussed, and the care for those affected isn't much at all. So it's nice to see and hear this issue being raised and talked about since it's deemed to be such a common issue.

There is something truly special about “Bluey.” It’s a show that manages to transcend generations while actually having a heart and this is why and these episodes I mentioned are why I started watching this show and taking notice of it in the first place. I started recently to watch the show from it's beginning as it's soft and calming and sort of reassuring for me at the moment as my girlfriend is away for work, and it reminds me of her and her soft loving caring nature and Bandit is the dad I aspire to become. Bluey's Dad Is The Best Animated Dad!

Bandit Heeler is Bluey's dad, in the mega hit kids TV show of the titular character named Bluey. In all my years of seeing Dad's in animated shows and even in sitcoms of live action material, Dad's are always portrayed as silly, disgruntled, clumsy characters and portrayed as the butt of every joke.

Bluey's Dad, Bandit however is not any of those characteristics, he generally loves his kids and does all he can right by them. Bluey dad is an inspirational role model, a realistic expectation of a real dad as he does also have his flaws but he has amazing examples of gentle parenting. He always makes valuable life lessons fun and enjoyable even for the kids. Bandit is a stand-out father who has inspired real-life parents and guardians with his commitment to his kids and imaginative play. He not only takes care of his own children but also helps other kids, showing compassion and kindness. Bandit is always so commited to imaginative play and ensures the kids have fun and learn valuable lessons through the process. He has extreme patience and care and always puts his kids first no matter his mood or the type of day he is having.

In the episode "Takeaway," Bandit is tasked with running a few errands and brings Bluey and Bingo along. Tired of waiting for their to-go food, the girls start to pester Bandit and wreak havoc outside the restaurant. At first, Bandit is (understandably) frustrated and tries to keep his kids in line. Eventually, he comes to an important conclusion: the kids are just being themselves and there's no reason to be overly stressed. Bluey regularly does a great job of illustrating parenting's challenges. Bandit's arc in "Takeaway" isn't just a crucial representation, but one of those times Bluey is more for adults than kids.

There are many times when Bluey tackles serious issues, though the episode called "Stickbird" stands out for its portrayal of navigating mental health-related concerns. During "Stickbird," the Heelers enjoy a day of sun, sand, and waves, but Bandit is clearly preoccupied with something. Unable to be fully present, he often stares off into the distance and remains pretty quiet. "Let it go, babe," Chilli says. "You're missing all of this." While the show never reveals what's troubling Bandit, it reiterates the importance of honoring one's mental health, while also encouraging folks to let go of the burdens that bog them down.

An ongoing gag in Bluey is that Bandit is always having the laundry basket knocked out of his hands. While it's more of a funny in-joke for fans than anything else, the recurring laundry issue reiterates that Bandit doesn't let the small things get to him. When kids don't fully understand the many chores and stressors that come with "adulting" it's easy to feel frustrated and overwhelmed, especially when the little things pile up. Bandit's more "go with the flow" attitude emphasizes the importance of not taking everything too seriously.

Even some of the worst parenting moments in Bluey prove that Bandit is one of TV's best dads, largely because Bandit's flaws make him more believable. Throughout the course of the series, Bandit has a few pretty hard-to-swallow moments. In "Obstacle Course," his pride gets the best of him: at the end of the race, he blatantly cheats to beat Bluey, who trained very hard. In "Mini Bluey," Bandit shows his favouritism toward the more well-mannered Bingo in front of Bluey. Weirdly, he never apologizes. While these Bluey moments shouldn't serve as a guide for parents, they help make Bandit a more well-rounded, relatable father figure.

These are just some of the reasons and standout moments for me as to why Bandit Heeler is the best animated TV dad. Thanks for reading and visiting my blog, stay shiny and follow for more!

Pulling Yourself Out Of A Pit

It's not easy. It's tough. Once you fall into the pit, you feel weak and helpless. All you try and do feels useless. You wake up after a broken sleep, in disrepair and despair from awful dreams. Negative voices and faces come and speak. Filling your head with ill will and unpleasantry.

Those voices tell me; "You are no good for anyone. You are not good enough. You are not fit enough. No one loves you and you are not worth the time and ever feeling love. You are the cause of all the bad. Everything bad in your life is your fault."

The theme of which the voices and past shadow people present is that the abusive language and actions of them is because of my existence, because you I am fat, different, broken and too good in a world full of hate and ugliness and that I should blame myself for their actions against me.

When you get into that pit, when your mind drags you down because things are too good or because too many things are staring down your neck. Just remember to be present and to breathe. It's scary, it's worrying and stressful, let alone frustrating. You always have two options you can let the nastiness play and replay over and over and let it roll you down the hill and into a pit, or you can let it play and roll down a hill and step over it allowing the voices to go into a pit by themselves. Alternatively you can scale that hill and capture those thoughts and feelings of negativity and hold them and continue to scale up the hill and use the negativity as fuel, as a power source to get the hell up and to prove them wrong!

No one said it's easy or that Scotty J would have an easy life. Scotty J would lead a difficult life because he was born into the world with a broken leg and then Scotty J developed Epilepsy from a side effect of an injection. Scotty J spent a lot of his childhood in hospitals and being unable to remember a lot of moments and times and it's not his fault, just the circumstances were unfortunate. Despite the circumstances Scotty J prevailed and continues to live on each and every day. It's not been easy to keep going on despite health issues, family passings, betrayals and heart breaks, but he keeps on going strong. A lot of the traumas of life have been locked away and forgotten about but things get triggered as bad dreams arise and the vault is left ajar, ready for keywords or moments to make the tortured souls near and not far.

Confidence isn't my strong point for it comes and goes in different levels of strength. I overthink and I worry and I Google anything wrong and Catastrophize the worse scenarios. I've pulled myself up out of deeper pits before. I've pulled myself out of pits like this before. It's going to be okay. Tough times don't last but good guys do.

I haven't felt like this in a long time, something is happening, something strange, no one could have predicted, my heart I feel it growing, I feel it beating and warming. It's beats are faster than normal, my mind is a full tank, swimming with someone. 

For someone who I've barely known and who I didn't speak or see for years to suddenly explode back into the scene for me and make me feel alive, it's extraordinary. I have thought of you on and off for years, this person would pop up as notifications "likes your photo", "likes your post". I always looked at her page and smiled, thinking and knowing she be doing well and i would hope she would be happy. Now as my phone pings, I get excited, hoping it's her, to see her name on the top of my screen, excitement builds. 

When she is not doing well or has to hide away for hours, I grow so worried. She was out the other night and I didn't know what to do with myself after a while as I felt worried and anxious about her being safe when she was out and I didn't want anyone to hurt her or or anything horrible or upsetting to happen to her. I was trying to keep busy because I know what kind of woman she is and she's strong and smart to know what to do if there's trouble or something is up. That nervous anxious feeling was surreal to me. Wow I was taken back, "I really care about her, don't I?" I would say to myself as my smile grew. My smile grows and grows and so does my smirk when she pops to mind or whenever I hear her name or see her name. This excitement is out of this world, it's then I really knew how much I cared about her and how I really felt about her. 

How can one person suddenly show up and hold your hand and actually sit with you and ask how you are and more, when you just don't expect it? To have someone suddenly appear and actually care is a miracle and a blessing. My gut tells me this is meant for me and meant to be because it's always been her even when I didn't know it. Even when she and I had been in different worlds yet we only lived 5 to 10mins away from eachother. These be the emotions I feel and what my head, heart and gut tell me. Having someone so special in your life who wants to talk to you every day because they find you so interesting and love the sound of your voice and that she shows me I'm worth her time and attention it's honestly the best feeling. 

Who knew complimenting a Xmas tree would be the best thing I ever did?! For years I wanted to message her and I was scared, of rejection, worried about any awkwardness I could cause. We knew eachother briefly years ago and we both thought we were so lovely. I honestly thought she was this cute, little, dwtty, kind, lady who was hard working and thoughtful. She probably thought of me as a big friendly giant at the time and you know she'd be right as I still am that.

Getting to know her and her values and intentions is the best thing, I've been doing on a daily basis. It makes me respect and admire her and more. This ain't a crush, it's more, that I know for sure. 

Do you ever feel like someone feels like home? Ever feel as if the missing puzzle was around you or rather right in front of you this whole time? You ever wish you could go back and show up to someone's door with the knowledge you have now and choose a different path? You ever think this was the path that was always meant to be walked down but you got lost along the way? Whatever questions I can ponder, my heart it whispers her name to all of those questions as if it knows that's the answers I been waiting for. 

I know someone special, i know I see a lot possible with that person. I know what I want and what I want is her happiness. I want my own happiness also and I can get that from my focus on myself, achieving my goals, continuing to learn and evolve and continuingly on past my limits. However I can also gain happiness past my own by seeing her happy and succeed and further grow into this marvellous, smart and gorgeous woman she is today. It also would be the cherry on top to have her as a permanent figure in my life. 

I cannot wait to take her away to incredible places and have so many dates with her and treat her to what she deserves and show her true love and relationship is like. I can't wait to make her laugh every day and fall asleep next to her. I can't wait to hold her. I cannot wait for all these things and more with her. It's her only her, only ever will be her. I'd happily exchange half of my life for half of hers and I would give a part of me to her, to save her life if ever needed. She inspires me to work harder and she understands me and anything I've been hurt with she's listened and understood and without thinking help me with any emotional past bandages or plasters I needed. I'm always impressed by the silly faces she pulls and all of her hard work and achievements. Her style and sense of fashion is truly remarkable and stunning and I love it, she pulls any outfit off with ease and grace, looking so dreamy and hot. I crave her next to me for the simplest of things, a hand hold, a staring contest, a cwtch, a cuddle and even to just sit or lay in silence admiring her. She's the best part of my day. 

This is all I think and feel about her, from the start to right now. I hope she knows all this and more. I can't wait for that right time to open up and she dares say "let's go" to me or "let's do this". I don't want to ever push her away or pressure her, I want to make her comfortable and take away any pain, stress, anxiety and sadness. It's important to me that she feels happy, relaxed and loved. I've made a promise to her and I'll always stick by it. I really fancy this woman, she's dreamy in a lot of ways from her personality, eyes, lips, body, hair, nose and ears and all of her every single fibre of her being. From the way her eyes look to her cheeky grins and adorable voice and video/voice messages, to the way she scrunches her lips and pushes a bottle of Dr pepper into her face to crease it ever so delicately. She deserves unconditional love and I plan to give her that. 

Poppy - ZIG album Review

Poppy is back once again with more new music and this time she drops a brand-new album akin to I Disagree onto our laps. A few songs on here I heard prior to the album's drop as they were released as singles. Zig is the fifth studio album by American singer-songwriter Poppy, released on October 27, 2023, through Sumerian Records.

Church Outfit

Kicks off the album with its synthy bass followed by aggressive vocals from Poppy. Interesting start to the album maybe more synth, bass like instrumentals to follow. Poppy has explored and experimented with many genre's maybe this album will be metal/electronica.

Knockoff

Once again another catchy synthy club bass song. I love the chorus of this and how Poppy sings it and the accompanying vocals "I want to know" is so good. It's such a catchy one, it got stuck in my head and was played on repeat when this dropped as a single.

Hard

The most recent released single from the album, follows the tune of the last few with some more of the industrial, synth instrumental with poppy's soft sing-song voice. Quite a catchy chorus too. Oh, dear lord we get aggressive around the 1:45 mark before calming back down.

What It Becomes

This one starts off with the strong violin and then Poppy sings with silence which echoes and whirs as the instruments swell and build up. Around the 2min mark we get this distorted slowed voice before Poppy comes back with her softly sung lines.

Flicker

This kicks off with sort of electronic drum and bass along with Poppy's soft vocals, and we get some more violins to close it out.

1S + OS

Electronic and synthy as Poppy commands the track with her confident vocals following the chorus I feel. I dig this one.

Zig

The album's title track plays now, and it's quite a synthy electro pop song to kick off. This is damn catchy! Ooof them synthy breakdowns and then we get a chugging riff and some booming kick drums as we build up to the chorus and boom "when you zig, i zag, when you zig, i zag, i zig zag." Oh yeah this feels like something The Matrix films would use in the soundtrack or John Wick films in a club fight scene.

Linger

A slow acoustic stripped back start with this one until 1min mark where we get the electro feel back into this track. It's a nice one.

The Attic

Its soft, but we quickly get caught up in the fast-paced drum and bass. It's a lot to take it in, and I do feel the fast drum bass is a bit much but when the chorus swells and erupts it's a nice addition which ends with a few lovely piano tones.

Alright get on, we got a robotic lady walking us into the track before Poppy swiftly takes over as the robot accompanies as some back up vocals at points. The chorus is so fast and catchy, and it's good. I admit when I first heard this when it dropped as a single I was not into it but now after hearing all of the album to now and hearing this again in my headphones, I am moving and singing along best I can to it haha.

Prove It

Time for the last song on this album, almost distorted vocals and piano keys kick off this track before the vocals get more sharp and distorted as the drum and bass pounds. The chorus and vocals are quite stunning. Around 1:21 in the song we get more distorted and synth and drum and bassy. All before the track slows back down with its chorus and fades out with electronic static, that's it folks.

Although the album clocks in with 11 tracks which only lasts around 30 mins total for the album, she covers a lot of ground with tracks capturing different emotions and feels. Poppy said it best "when you zig, I zag" as she continues to branch out and explore the different musical genre's and styles of instruments to accompany her wonderful voice and creative talents. Poppy is ever evolving and creating, and I love how she does it. The themes of the album are that of love and disconnection and also a sense of empowerment, that's what I am taking away from this album. Although "I Disagree" is still my fave album from Poppy, this one is a nice entry onto her album catalogue and I will always recommend Poppy to people searching for new music because she has something for everyone and I feel she is so overlooked and underrated.

Late Night Ramblin's Vol9- Life October 2023

So it's been a while (again)......in my absence however my blog views have somehow increased? 

Thank you! Seriously thanks so much for that, it means a lot.

James Davie is who I have to also thank as he reminds me when I have not done a blog post in a while. Comments like that tend to snap me back to reality and shift my focus, so I am here to write a little bit about what's going on right now. Random Ramblin's? Maybe but this is another life update after all so who knows what I will title this when I am done and of course I'm putting this together through the day and night.

I've been busy with my two jobs as well as content creating and just playing games or watching TV or films you know any sort of media exposure, I have had. I've not felt inspired or motivated because of tiredness mainly to just write some stuff, I've not had ideas. Some reviews I've done on films are short on letterboxd, but it's not to the level of where I want to publish here. I know that doesn't matter or mean much to you reading, but I like my reviews here to have some sort of love and passion.

Job life

Job number 1 - Bartender

I started that job in July 2022, and I've recently resigned from that job. I resigned because the job wasn't fun and worth the stress any more. Furthermore, I wasn't getting the hours, so I had to take another job earlier this year which in turn seemed to have penalized me with management in Job 1. Hours were cut again and if I wasn't able to cover or wanted time off (with enough time given in advance) I'd be met with just general snarky behaviour and arguments. It wasn't good for me. Every time I got to the place I felt miserable. The constant road works and closures don't do me any good either but that's not the fault of the company of course. My friends who I met there were leaving or have left. My fave person there has gone on bereavement leave and I hated to leave without seeing her or welcoming her back, but there's no way I would have been happy with myself to continue being miserable and stressed in a job that doesn't satisfy me. When I handed my notice in and told my new supervisors they were supportive and so lovely. It was a great place to work at I used to look forward to the laughs and the team working together, but there's just selfishness there and no team work and lack of communication admist all my faves aka the good people leaving. I wish them all the best there, they are good people, and it's a nice place to visit, but I can't stay where I'm not happy. That's the truth, and I'm sorry if I have left anyone down or upset in my decision. Of course, I offended my managers there when I said that "it feels good that it's my last shift here.".

To my friends I made who I worked with please stay in touch and know that Chloe,Prim,Josh D, Ash, Caitlin, Bret, Yestyn, Brandon, Rachel, Sarah, Tatiana, Scott and Josh S, I hope you know how much I've loved working with you and if you should ever see this post know that I love you all and respect you all so much, and I can't wait to hang out and see you all again soon.

Job 2 - Customer Service Sales Assistant & Keyholder

So this job in the beginning I found boring, but now I love it and I love all who I work with and the customers. It's getting to be the busy season, so I'm excited and nervous for all the madness that awaits me. I love my co-workers and managers there, and it is local to my home. Besides parking charges there are no cons or complaints I have for the job. I got to focus my attention there and on being better and more knowledgeable of the job and place and products and a bunch of online training and get any and all extra hours I can there to bulk up my pay and experience and that's where my focus is at.

Mental Health

I still get that fake motivation where I want to or feel like I'm going to play some game on my PlayStation, but then I just don't get to do it. Videos I do get to do here or there it just depends on when I feel motivated to do them or when the idea or inspiration hits.

My weight loss has staggered, I'm still keeping the 4 stone I lost earlier this year off me, but it's tough the motivation I once had has staggered again. So it feels like a waiting game for some sort of lightning bolt to hit me to awaken me back to full power where I will do anything and everything haha. I got this hip issue ATM and also this weird wheezy cough so that's fun dealing with.

Dating wise I'm just always at the talking stage, so I guess, I need some help in that department. I've made more friends than I've had dates and the friends I've made are cool and different genders too.

Finished my Christmas shopping, I like to be early in that department.

TV Shows

The One Piece netflix TV show was absolutely lit!

Disney's Star Wars Ashoka show has been great, and it's not finished yet (at time of writing).

Futurama new season on Disney plus has its moments but overall I thought it sucked, unfortunately.

Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury was pretty good, I'd give it a 7/10.

Thirty Seconds To Mars: It's The End Of The World, BUT It's A Beautiful Day (REVIEW!)

Thirty Seconds To Mars are one of my all-time fave bands and safe to say after the last album being a total dud, I can happily shout out that THEY ARE BACK!!!!! It's the End of the World, but It's a Beautiful Day is the sixth studio album by American rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars, released on September 15, 2023, through Concord. It is the first album after their debut without guitarist Tomo Miličević who left the band in June 2018. So going into the album prior to any song release I was sceptical because the last album America, frankly sucked in my opinion, and it really let me down. However, following Stuck's single release I was taken back hearing a new pop synth rock track from Mars which was also so very catchy.

From there I binged the track relentlessly until they dropped their next single, Life Is Beautiful, and again it was another chill and beautiful track I binged, and you won't believe what happened next? Well I pre-ordered the Deluxe album from HMV and then oh yes I loved their next two single's they dropped prior to the album release Get Up Kid and World On Fire. Catchy and beautiful tracks the boys dropped and so here comes me listening to this new album religiously since it dropped or rather arrived in my hands. The album I ordered got delayed a few days as this was supposed to arrive on September 15th which was the same day as my CFM2 CD and honestly this time round Corey Taylor new album was disappointing and 30STM's was phenomenal.

1: Stuck

The lead single from the album and a very funky, catchy, high energy track which Jared said celebrates the arts.

2: Life Is Beautiful

Dramatic beats with upbeat empowering lyrics that are chill and catchy.

3: Seasons

Acoustic and very chill vibes with this song as it's stripped back with again catchy and relatable lyrics. 

I have been singing along to this quite a bit in the car, well that also applies to the whole album.

4: Get Up Kid

Piano in this is stunning and so is its catchy whoa's and empowering soft chorus.

5: Love These Days

An absolute truth in a song. As with other tracks I find this relatable and catchy. 

It's a beautiful and apt song.

6: World On Fire

It feels like a song about coming out of depression as you feel your drive again and things will be better now. Nice message and it's very electronic.

7:1

Got to channel our inner Freddie Mercury with the ayy-oh's in this one haha, it's catchy and again electronic.

8: Never Not Love You 

A soft and powerful emotional songs that I feel is so relatable. I love this one, no it's more of an adore. 

I adore this song, it's very personal.

9: Midnight Prayer

The first time I heard this song I was confused because it did not sound like Jared Leto singing to me, and I was an idiot to not realize sooner that it's Shannon Leto singing this one. HOWEVER! It has quickly become one of my most repeated songs from the album. Electronic and synthy. Another very relatable song for me with this one though.

10: Lost These Days

This one is another stripped back acoustic track and feels like a follow up to Never Not Love You or rather another alternative way of telling that story of the relationship breakdow and I also relate and feel this song. It gets very electronic towards the end.

11: Avalanche

Another one of my most played tracks is Avalanche it feels like a song that was a perfect fit for the Love, lust, faith and dreams album. First time I heard this song I felt it, it hit me and it made me smile.

The deluxe edition of the album features a slowed down version of Stuck and an Alt version of Never Not Love You. Both are you know good as to be expected. I could not hear any differences in the alt version of Love.

So yes, I love this album, and it feels really special and personal to me with how I can relate and feel all the emotions from the songs and how Jared expresses the lyrics. Softer, chill, emotional and catchy is what this album is, and it's full of the human spirit and experiences of life. Honestly this album is phenomenal in my opinion and I love it to bits.

Indiana Jones & The Dial Of Destiny FILM REVIEW

OK a new Indiana Jones film is out, and I have been looking forward to this for a long time! I am a big fan of Dr Jones and yes I do like Crystal Skull. Buckle up and put your hats on and let's get ready to go back in time with the new Indiana Jones film review.

Our fave daredevil, whip wielding, hat wearing, archaeologist is back and this time he is nearing his retirement. 12 Years after his last adventure Indy is down on his luck and has lost his family and has aged to be in his 70s, so his body is beaten, tired and scarred from his past adventures and time is catching up to Indy, but he won't tell you that. The film starts in 1944 as we flash back to a younger Indy infiltrating the Nazi's for an artefact, only to end up finding a fake but then walking away with something even better and quite mythical, a time travelling piece of Archimedes dial. So in 1969 some Nazis from Indy's past return and are after his god-daughter when Indy gets all caught up in the scheme for the dial of destiny and must go on one last adventure to keep the dial out of evil's mitts and save the world once more.

Dial Of Destiny as a film is OK at best. The end was so rushed. 

***NOW WE COME TO SPOILER TERRITORY SO LOOK AWAY NOW IF YOU DON'T WANT ANY SPOILERS*** 

Killing off Mutt off-screen was a low blow. Wish Spielberg had made this rather than Mangold. Harrison always delivers as Indy. I was not a fan of Phoebe's character Helena Shaw. Mad's character Vollen should have died in the intro after we see him get hit by a pole on a moving train, his face should have been seriously messed up, and he should have died but nope he lives and has a tiny scar to show for it. The first 20/30 mins of the film with De-aged Indiana Jones were brilliant then the rest was just a totally different film. Lots of people ragged on the de-aging and lip sync for young Indy, but honestly I had no issues with it. It's nice to have the references to characters and events in other films but not name-dropping Short Round is another criminal offence. There is a new kid in this whose sidekick to Helena Shaw, and honestly he is just useless and forgettable, he is sort of a short round lite, oh hang on he's not that useless he randomly flew a plane when time was needed even if he had no idea or lessons of how to fly a plane. The Last Crusade had the first brilliant ending to the Indy series BUT Crystal Skull also had a brilliant and happy ending too despite that film's flaws but in my honest opinion after Rewatching Skull the other day, Dial Of Destiny is worse than Crystal Skull. The ending here in this film was so anticlimactic, basically Indy and Helena are back in time to like 215BC and Indy got shot he is dying and wants to be left there with history and Helena just goes "lol nope" knocks out Indy then he wakes up in his flat in 1969 and Marrion and co are back there and all seems well and good. Helena and co go grab Ice Cream while Indy and Marrion kiss and the film circles in on Indy's hat drying outside his window when he grabs the hat and pulls it back into the flat. There's a lot in the film which the film wants us to disband our belief and toss our brains out the window and again point proven from the intro with Vollen surviving. This is said to be "Indy's final adventure" so I had high expectations it would send him off well, and we'd get a decent action adventure from our fave archaeologist but all I got was the dial of mid.

The Mandalorian's are a popular group of characters in the Star Wars universe, known for their distinctive armour, combat skills, and code of honour. Mando season 3 is over and in this blog I won't be divulging Mando season 3 spoilers here. Here are a few reasons why they are often considered to be popular:

The Mandalorians' armour is instantly recognizable, with its T-shaped visor, jetpack, and various other gadgets and weapons. The armour is both functional and stylish, and it conveys a sense of power and danger.

2: Combat prowess

The Mandalorians are known for being skilled fighters, with a reputation for taking on seemingly impossible challenges and emerging victorious. Their combat training and tactics are often shown in action scenes, making them exciting and impressive to watch.

3: Code of honour

Safe to say characters such as Boba Fett, Jango Fett, Bo Kotan, Sabine Wren and Din Djarin have carried the mando mantle to such high heights and the star wars universe has been forever changed or elevated thanks to George Lucas, Dave Filoni and John Favreau's influences and ideas for the story of the mandalorians.

Cancel Culture Thoughts

Cancel culture has become a hotly debated topic in recent years, with many arguing that it has gone too far and is a threat to free speech and open dialogue. So what is cancel culture? Well it refers to the practice of publicly shaming and singling out individuals or groups who have expressed controversial or unpopular views. While it can be tempting to want to shut down those whose opinions we disagree with, I believe that cancel culture is ultimately harmful and counterproductive in the scheme of things.

One of the biggest problems with cancel culture is that it often involves silencing people rather than engaging with their ideas. When we label someone as "problematic" and refuse to engage with their arguments, we miss out on the opportunity to learn from them and have a meaningful exchange of ideas. It's important to remember that everyone has the potential to learn and grow, and shutting people down can actually make them more entrenched in their beliefs. I can at times get into fiery arguments online with stranger with different views to my own granted but when there are no insults being thrown I like to meet them on their level and try to get a bigger picture on how they think and why they feel the way about whatever we are both butting heads with and often enough at times I have made new friends and followers from doing that practise rather than remaining hostile. So with everyone up the arse on the be kind movement (which I do agree with) let's all take steps back and open up our minds to understanding a different point of view and someone else's opinions. Be kind to each other or rather be excellent to each other dudes!

Another issue with cancel culture is that it creates an environment of fear and mistrust. When people are afraid to express their opinions for fear of being cancelled, it can lead to a chilling effect on free speech and open discourse. This is especially problematic in academic and intellectual circles, where the free exchange of ideas is essential for progress and innovation. Stop the silencing unless it is harming you in any way and if you are being threatened or feel harmed online via abuse or harassment just please block the people responsible for ruining your moods. 

Furthermore, cancel culture can be incredibly damaging to individuals who are targeted by it. Being publicly shamed and ostracized can have serious psychological and social consequences, and can even lead to job loss or financial ruin. It's important to hold people accountable for their actions, but we need to do so in a way that is proportionate and constructive, rather than punitive and destructive. However, if we are cancelling people for criminal activity I do agree to get the person who has committed any crimes to be blocked and reported and just removed and people to be aware of the sins of that individual. 

In order to move away from cancel culture, we need to focus on creating a culture of empathy and dialogue. This means listening to and engaging with people who hold different opinions from us, even if we find those opinions offensive or disagreeable. It also means being willing to have difficult conversations and being open to changing our own views in the face of new information.

Ultimately, cancel culture is a symptom of a larger societal problem - our inability to engage with difference and disagreement in a constructive way. We cannot erase history and our past as human beings, stop defacing paintings and destroying statues to try and change history, let's all learn, be aware and move on to more important matters in the present. So by cultivating a culture of empathy and dialogue, we can move beyond cancel culture and towards a more inclusive, open, and intellectually rigorous society.

The Last Of Us TV SERIES REVIEW! - J-Ellie Baby!

With the first season of video game smash hit The Last Of Us wrapped up I got to give big love and props to Bella! She smashed it, although it took time to grow into her as Ellie, she more than delivered! Pedro as always is a mega star and his Joel was amazing.

If you did not know already, The Last Of Us (HBO) is a post apocalyptic series based upon the smash hit video game of the same name; The Last Of Us. The Last Of Us follows the story of Joel and Ellie, Joel a single father just making his way through the rubble of his life at the end of the world meets Ellie a fiery 14-year-old girl and Joel is tasked with escorting Ellie to a medical facility halfway across America to try and find a cure for the Cordyceps Fungus infection that has waged havoc upon the world. Joel finds out that Ellie is immune to the infection, so we go on a journey of highs and lows as they seek to endure and survive all threats to the key to humanity's survival.

It was so great to see these Easter eggs and moments from the game recreated and also big love and thanks to the cast and crew bringing in the fab cast from the game. This series deserves awards no doubt about it, all cast and crew involved and especially the prosthetics and make up effects were insane and are more than deserving of some top quality awards.

Only flaws are that; Episode 9 was rushed, I felt the left behind episode was pretty weak, there was a lack of salvaging and battles with clickers. Don't get me wrong, I loved the series. The story is strong and on the same lines in general as the game, but it's got some changes that make it different and stand out from the game of course which I actually loved and am a big fan of and the shots and locations used in the series were beautiful also, it's crazy how lush they could make a ravaged world look even in an apocalypse. Let me also say the other stand out characters were Sarah Miller (Joel's daughter), Henry & Sam, Tommy Miller (Joel's brother), Tess and of course Bill & Frank. Their respective actors who portrayed the characters I just mentioned were outstanding. Ep 3 focused mostly on the same-sex relationship of Bill & Frank, and it was a beautiful episode and heartbreaking. Sam & Henry's episodes were heartbreaking also and so unique since Sam in this series is now deaf, and he is actually played by a deaf actor and oh my god it made things more tense and interesting, and it was just gruelling seeing their fate on the screen play out. I got to say also in the first episode it is hard not to have fallen in love with Sarah she was such a lovely delight and the actress played her perfectly and even though we know her fate it still hit hard and shocked us when it happen, and it was same for Tess too. Tommy is fine it's just his heated arguments and scenes with Joel were performed perfectly. These have been the other characters who have stood out for me. 

I love the story of the first game also. The bond between Ellie and Joel is one of the greatest stories ever told in gaming. As far as video game adaptions go, this series ranks high. For what it's worth. I love the game's story and characters but the gameplay for me, I didn't like BUT I loved the show.

Overall I'd say it's a near perfect TV series video game adaption, and I'd give season 1 a.......

Slipknot: The End, So Far - REVIEW

September 29th I received my copy of Slipknot's newest album The End, So Far. This is Slipknot's seventh and final album with label Roadrunner Records whom the band signed a deal with way back in 1998. Slipknot were said to be making this album since 2020.

In just days before this album released on 30th September 2022, It was said that some members of the band were not happy with the production on this album and early reviews have shown a fairly mixed review of the album BUT today I am here and will be listening to this new album and posting my thoughts and what I like and don't like with the album, and it will all be done track by track. So let's push our fingers into our eyes and get (sic).

THE END, SO FAR

1: Adderall

A totally different sound from Slipknot. Clean Corey vocals and synthy mixing from Sid. I really like this one. Sets me up for a totally different sounding Knot album. This is chill and catchy. Love it!

2: The Dying Song (Time to Sing)

This was I believe the second song released prior to the album's release and just shifts us from the new sound that was Adderall to the classic Knot sound with The Dying Song. Catchy chorus and meaty drums and guitars occupy this space.

3: The Chapeltown Rag

Ah ha! The first song released from the album is here! Probably my fave thing about this song is the way it flows. It's a similar sounding song to that of one from the All Hope Is Gone album for me, and it's also similar in its end to We Are Not Your Kind song.

4: Yen

Another one that was released in plenty of time before the album. Strange how the first few tracks were the ones they put out first, decent samples of the album I suppose and quite safe choices. Yen is ok like at first listen I was not into this one, like it did not stand out and upon further hearings of the song, I find myself singing along to the chorus.

5: Hive Mind

Now again this was put out before the album and funny enough I first heard this song through Tiktok just 2 days before the album released as Slipknot used the song to promote the new album of course and encouraged fans on tiktok to mosh to it on the app. It feels like organized chaos in a song BUT I mean that well, I am enjoying hearing clown and ol' Tortilla man banging the kegs. Nice to see them get some light with this one. I kinda like this one I feel it will grow more on me after a few more times.

6: Warranty

Alright back onto stuff I have not heard prior to the album's release now. Whoever is the backing vocals with Corey in the start of this one I give props to, I liked that blend. Nice solo. Hmm I'm not quite fussed on this one. I feel like something is missing from it in a way. An incomplete feeling how odd. Maybe this one will grow in time.

7: Medicine for the Dead

Oooof nice growl Mr. Taylor, that's a nice start to this one and this feels thrashy to start and a bit of groove to it, how interesting. Again I feel the same way for this track as I did the last, am I missing something or was this lacking something. Hmm. I also wonder if there are any instrumentals on this album.

8: Acidic

Oh hello there, quite a doom opening, and then we get Corey switching from aggressive to clean and some guitar twang, and It is swapping between the two as the track continues. This feels like a cross between a CFMT song and Slipknot just in terms of it's sound as we have clean Corey, aggressive Corey among some darker metal tones of the instrumentals of which we are so use to from Knot. One to listen in with a few more times to see if it grows or not.

9: Heirloom

Alright with a name like Heirloom I'm waiting on some sort of trophy nostalgic trip haha. Some scratching from Sid is a good start. Hmm groove singing akin to Stone Sour. Again I compare this with the sound of Corey's other band Stone Sour as it sounds more like their song than a Knot song. Feel's like it's missing some catchy chorus from Absolute Zero era Stone Sour. The chorus "The moment never lasts that long" right I will be honest this chorus feels lacklustre and I don't want to say this, but I think this would have benefited Stone Sour more and the rest of the guys in Stone did their own version layering it different would be a bit better suited than this being a Slipknot song. Not bad just I don't buy into it being a Slipknot song.

10: H377

A faster paced song in terms of lyrics and that's nice to see, I like it when Corey talks fast. Catchy chorus which could catch on with time and more plays of the song.

11: De Sade

This feels like Slipknot's version of SOAD's - ATWA & Aerials in a way with some of its form and around the 3:40 mark it kinda feels like Custer. I dig this, good solo Jim.

12: Finale

Wow, no instrumentals on this album. Another song that's quite different and experimental and yet it's closing the album and I find it a shame because this was a good one again. 

The Verdict

That's the album and this has been my thoughts and scribbles on the album first hand. I had a lot of high hopes as ever for any new music from Slipknot, they are truly one of my fave bands of all time. I can't help but to feel a little bit disappointed right now. However, the potential for some of these songs to grow and get better with age is there.

WWE CLASH AT THE CASTLE: PREDICTIONS!

So on September 3rd in good ol Cardiff, we have the first major WWE PPV in the UK in 30 years! 

The card is pretty good and with how unpredictable and surprising WWE has been lately thanks to Triple H, no doubt we will get something and maybe even an appearance from The Game himself to welcome us all to Clash At The Castle!

We’re just under one week from showtime, and here’s how the card looks:

WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Drew McIntyre

Winner?: Roman (i was right)

This match could go either way and of course it will have some interruptions from Uso's and Honorary Uce Sami Zayn and maybe also Karrion Kross. If Drew wins, it will be insane!

SmackDown Women’s Championship: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Shayna Baszler

Winner?: Shayna 

I feel like with help from Ronda, Shayna wins this one. 

Intercontinental Championship: GUNTHER (c) vs. Sheamus

Winner?: Sheamus

I think this match could go either way, but I'd like Sheamus to get the one title that has slipped his grasp. 

Bianca Belair & Alexa Bliss & Asuka vs. Bayley & Dakota Kai & IYO SKY

Winners?: Damage Ctrl aka IYO, KAI, BAYLEY (i was right)

I think Bliss will turn Heel and turn on Asuka and Bianca.

Seth Rollins vs. Riddle

Winner? Riddle.

I think Riddle is due his break in this feud so this will be his one up. 

Judgement Day vs Edge & Rey Mysterio

Winners? Judgement Day

I see Dominik turning Heel joining Judgement Day.

POPPY - Flux Album Review

Flux is the fourth studio album by American singer Poppy. It was released on September 24, 2021, through Sumerian Records. This album is a blend of Grunge, Pop and Metal and has Poppy's signature sound of daydream lull vocals and her aggressive screams along with her band having screeching guitar's, industrial synthy sounds, catchy pop like tunes and riffs and chorus's and laid back groove's. Every Poppy album is so unique, they always manage to get into your head and also make you sing along and headbang even when it comes to a halt and hits you with some fairy tale type vocals and sounds.

This review has been on my back bench since late 2021, I meant to listen and write about this sooner but things happen and got in the way but hey better late than never right? I also have her Christmas stuff to listen to and I may do my thoughts on that and post them near to Christmas this year, so please stick around on my blog for regular and monthly posts of all sorts. :)

My Opinion

This album is a lot of fun and is Poppy standing up at the world saying "I'm here, and you can't stop me because like a flower, I'll bloom." Although I favour her previous work more than this album, I have to say this is still a great album and blends all elements of her music into one singular album. Also, this album is a big Fuck you to her manipulative controlling ex, see dude she's better off without you!
