No One Will Save You - Film Review!

Home invasion, plus Alien invasion, plus being alienated by a whole town = this film.
No One Will Save You is alien invasion horror film directed by Brian Duffield and it's lead star Katlin Denver.

Jesus Christ this was terrifying. I was legit scared watching this. My gut was all in a knot from how tense this film is. It's awesome! I loved seeing a scary alien film, the last alien film that scared me was The Fourth Kind.

I thought everything in this film was excellent from directing, music, acting, story. I was gripped and on edge for the entire film. The ending was super weird I didn't get it.

I wish this was released in cinemas and for it to have made big bucks and hopefully been seen by more people. There was 8 lines spoken and yet I still had subtitles on๐Ÿ˜‚

8/10
So what did you think of this film or are you yet to see it?

Top 10 Scariest Movie Monsters

From humans to the undead to animals and from the animals to the extra terrestrials. The horror genre has enlisted everything and made it scary. Today I am giving you my list of the best monsters in movie history all in a short Top 10 List! Obviously Zombies, Werewolves, Vampires and Serial Killers are all scary BUT I wish to go a different route from these as most of these I am having a hard time picking a definitive film over for some of these characters SO. I might list some scary slashers, vampires, werewolves and zombies at a later date.
10: Michael Myers - Halloween Franchise
Alright starting number 10 off with my personal favourite serial killer here with The Shape. He looks like a man and his gender is also male BUT he has the blackest eyes, the devil's eyes, and he moves and acts in mysterious ways albeit with an unkillable rage.

9: Shelob - LOTR
Spider's I fucking hate Spiders! My fear are these eight legged bastards so when one of my fave fantasy series of all time has A GIANT FUCKING SPIDER you know it's something I cannot watch or look at when it's on-screen because it scares me so.

8: The Nun - The Conjuring Franchise
She's a scary demon and the first time I had seen her well I was afraid, hell I still find her image unsettling. I hope The Nun sequel is cracking because Valak is a scary thing.

7: Lip-Stick Face Demon - Insidious
A stupid name for such a demonic entity but what other way should you call this thing. Darth Maul is already taken, but many still refer to this demon as that name. The Lipstick-Face Demon, also known as the Man With Fire on his Face, the Red-Faced Man, Sixtass, or simply the Demon, is the main antagonist of Insidious horror film series.

6: Bruce - Jaws
My fear of sharks and the deep sea started from the music and this deep sea monster known as Bruce, but we can also call it JAWS.

5: The Creeper - Jeepers Creepers
A creature that has existed probably since humanity has but for every 23 years and for 23 days he hunts down people and uses them and their organs to help it live until the next 23 years at least. It can fly, it can drive and jeepers creepers where'd he get those peepers?

4: Pinhead - Hellraiser franchise
Pinhead (also known as The Hell Priest and Lead Cenobite) is the main antagonist in the Hellraiser franchise. He is a Cenobite in the Order of the Gash.

3: The Thing - The Thing
The Thing is an extremely hostile shape-shifting extraterrestrial organism and the primary antagonist of the 1982 science-fiction film The Thing. We never actually see it's true form as it is always shape-shifting.

2: Freddy Krueger - A Nightmare On Elm Street Franchise
He's got that catchy nursery rhyme, and he has done many a crime. Freddy waits for you to sleep to get you while giving you, your worst nightmare. Sleep is not safe any more.

1: Xenomorphs - Alien Franchise
The Xenomorphs have many forms and all of them are scarier than the last. They scared me so much as a child when I first saw Alien and of course after seeing the facehuggers. In space no one can hear you scream!

Alright and that's my list, how does it fare compared to yours?
Let me know and as always any suggestions for lists please hit me up or comment below.
Thanks for reading, stay spooky, or they will get you!

Top 10 Film Posters

Shoutout to James Davie for suggesting this.

For this list I will be including films from the past to the present. For added toughness i'll be sure to make it a 1 entry per series film list. This was super tough to list and is not the definitive list as my opinion will change from time to time but this is the list I chose as of writing.

Halloween
Proving that even the humble pumpkin can be considered menacing, Robert Gleason’s demonic nightmare is arguably unmatched among horror one sheets. We only see Michael Myers’ hand here holding his signature weapon along with the menacing pumpkin face, but his presence is felt heavily especially in it's tagline, with the ’He’ suggesting so much from so little.

Alien
A poster that’s become synonymous with Ridley Scott’s chilling space horror in spite of the fact it looks absolutely nothing like the Xenomorph eggs that appear in the final film. A simple visual cracking egg, creepy glow, alien bio organic texture on the floor matched with the title and beautifully finished with the film’s chilling tagline it's very foreboding.

The Truman Show
Photographic mosaics are a plenty these days but in the days of the late ‘90s, this poster was something of a design trailblazer. It also makes perfect sense for visually communicating Truman Burbank’s life, continuously observed by reality TV cameras, in a single image. Supports the brilliant film nicely.

Lord Of War
At first glance, it’s a straightforward headshot. Look closer, and it’s a headshot in more ways than one: every fragment of The Cage is made up of bullet and shell casings. It’s a meticulous mosaic of militarism, and it works like a treat. This was a decent film aswell one of Cage's best.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)
The images resemble the wanted posters featured in the original comic, and thanks to the film’s time travel plot, both the younger and older versions of Professor X and Magneto appear onscreen. These character posters visualise that by overlaying the younger actors’ faces over their older counterparts. The placement of the X over the characters’ eyes draws the viewer’s attention to the perfect spot. And instead of bothering with unnecessary text, the designer just put the movie’s release date in the lower right hand corner. The minimalist style works because it highlights characters the audience already knows and loves.

LOTR: Fellowship
More precisely I chose this trilogy teaser poster, it's simplistic but the lighting showing most of Frodo, his clothes and background as dark represents the dark path he must take ahead of him to destroy the one ring which as you can see in the poster it's brightly lit signifying its importance and power. Not going to lie it's one of my favourite films and trilogies in existence aswell so had to throw it in here.

Avengers Infinity War
The most recent entry on this list is this blockbuster powerhouse costing over a billion to make and it's earned double that as of writing I believe but this film features the big heavyweight actors of modern day Hollywood and it's colour scheme is eye catching yet hides a darker tone to it with it's colours too.

The Dark Knight
Why so serious? This is one of a couple of posters used for the film which was brilliant. I love how dark and serious this poster is showing us that what we are about to see is a dark dramatic tense superhero film and that's what we got. The Joker's why so serious one shows the same and there's a sense of unpredictability aswell in the poster with the Joker writing why so serious on a mirror or piece of fogged up glass and it seems to be coming from his face from his smile. Brilliantly designed posters for such a brilliant film.

V For Vendetta
Anarchy reigns strong here in this eye-catching colourful poster for one of the best film's in modern times hell even all of time I would argue. The red and black colour scheme used is telling us the viewers that this film is powerful, sophisticated and passionate quite the intimidating combination.

Star Wars (EP 4)
Tom Jung’s striking theatrical poster for Star Wars is such a classic and it's an iconic stand out among films in the sci-fi genre and all other movie gerne's for that matter in my opinion. Composed around a ‘good vs evil’ concept it's a straightforward poster, Jung used the lightsaber’s unusual cross motif against the dark of Vader’s helmet to convey the film’s moral struggle. The title style here is a direct nod to the opening crawl.

And that's my list, thanks for visiting!

Top 3 Ridley Scott Films!

I posted the other day on facebook that Ridley Scott and I don't have a very good track record.

Everytime Ridley Scott announces he has a new film people seem to perk up like "Ohh should be good" and I don't get it.... Ridleys has not made a lot of films that I have liked to be honest and it's just my opinion. Ridley has the flashy visual direction with his films but most of the stories in his films have not been good. Took me seeing the new Blade Runner trailer to say this. Nice visuals don't mean a good film. Just like how graphics don't make a good game.

I did put more details in it but due to tiredness, i did get a bit confused and randomly slapped in James Cameron films and mistook them as Ridley films lol. Now it was a mistake and no one really pointed it out (weirdly) but i am sure you see why as both directors have stunning visuals in their movies but not many good stand out stories.

Yes David in Alien Covenant was great about his last film and yes Alien series is still ongoing and may end up being the best film series but as it stands for me it's: 2 good,2 bad and 2 ok films in the Xeno series.

I said in that same post that i need to go on IMDB and list all the films i have liked by him and so here it is.

Normally i do top 10's but this is how bad my track record is with Ridley. Now i am also not saying Ridley is terrible just to be clear but he is one of my least fave directors and one i find overrated just a bit. As you will see below there are films i like best from him.

3: Gladiator
Maximus vs Commodus is a great rivalry one of the best on screen and this is the best roman and gladiatorial film i believe. It's a lengthy one which does bore me at parts but the final battle pay off is worth it. 8/10

2: The Martian
Funny, smart, dramatic, tense, The Martian is all these really enjoyable film. Ridley Scott handles the planetary and space sequences beautifully, especially an action-packed climax that will have you on the edge of your seat. 9/10

1: Alien
Of course this is number one such an atmospheric space horror movie and a classic in this day and age. The most startling thing watching Alien again is its pacing. For the first 45 minutes, little happens. It's all slow, exquisite build-up, which makes the second half seem all the more horrific. 9/10

You maybe thinking BUT Scott where is Blade Runner? Black Rain? Body Of Lies? American Gangster? Or what ever movie you want. They are not here. Sorry i did not find them good. One's i found good or liked are listed in my top 3. Blade Runner looked great but it was too weird and i could not make sense of it to fully enjoy it.

I shall now list all films i have seen by Ridley. Blade Runner, Black Rain, Body Of Lies, American Gangster, Alien, The Martian, Gladiator, Hannibal, Legend, Robin Hood, Prometheus, Alien Covenant, Kingdom of Heaven, Black Hawk Down and Exodus: Gods and Kings.

I mentioned James Cameron earlier and so here is my list of my top 3 Cameron films - https://1stmetalgodsblog.blogspot.co.uk/2017/05/top-3-james-cameron-films.html

As ever, THANKS FOR READING!

R.I.P. John Hurt

Sir John Vincent Hurt
22 January 1940 - 27 January 2017
May your body and spirit rest in peace but may you also live on forever in your films and roles. Thank You.

Here i will be showing images from my fave performances of John Hurt's career and also post some quotes from him and his characters.

John Merrick: I am not an elephant! I am not an animal! I am a human being! I am a man!

John Merrick: People are frightened by what they don't understand.

“Great men are forged in fire. It is the privilege of lesser men to light the flame.” ― The War Doctor

Sutler: I want this country to realise that we stand on the edge of oblivion. I want every man, woman and child to understand how close we are to chaos.

Professor Trevor 'Broom' Bruttenholm: In the absence of light, darkness prevails. There are things that go bump in the night, Agent Myers. Make no mistake about that. And we are the ones who bump back.

Professor Trevor 'Broom' Bruttenholm: What is it that makes a man a man? Is it his origins, the way things start? Or is it something else, something harder to describe?

Such an iconic scene Hurt as Kane really helped kick off a huge sci-fi body horror genre i mean body horror as Aliens features chest bursters which is indeed body horror for me. Space has not felt so scary nor has encounters with other life forms until this film and scene.
