Top 3 Clint Eastwood (Directed) Films

Hello there, how are you doing? I hope you are well my metallic nation.

Today i have another list, top 3 Clint Eastwood films now by this i will state i am going by FILMS HE DIRECTED. Not the ones he has only starred in.

I'll do a list of films i love with Clint in some other day.

So yes with all this in mind, let us venture to see the best 3 films i think Clint has made.

3:
Jersey Boys
Now i will be honest when i heard this was being made by Clint i thought "Clint has done a musical film? This is weird" then i seen the trailer and i was like "Ok i have to see this" and i did see it and i really enjoyed it. Great story, great music and actors in the film and Clint's direction with it is good. I enjoyed it a lot. 7/10.

2:
Gran Torino
Simply terrific, enormously watchable and an absolute must for all Eastwood fans. Covers a lot of ground as it rolls: religion, the toll of war, mortality, what it means to be a man. It perfectly captures his on screen career too and that's what fans will love about this film. 8/10

1: American Sniper
Great film here one thing that is off putting is the fake baby scene (if you seen it you will know what i mean). Bradley Cooper delivers a strong performance that really carries the film we see Kyle go through the motions of war in this story, Eastwood knows how to make compelling and tense films for our viewing pleasure. 9/10.

Now below here is a list of all the other films i have seen directed by Eastwood and my thoughts on them.

J. Edgar (I have seen this film but i was severely bored by it don't recommend unless you know and are interested in J. Edgar Hoover.)

Space Cowboys (Good film from what i remember but not seen it in years)

Mystic River (Was ok again not seen it in years)

Unforgiven (I did not like this to be honest first seen it about 4 years ago after a friend kept telling me to see it since i like Westerns and it has a good cast but it bored me tbh)

That is all from me for today people, another short list all wrapped up, because it's short does not mean it took me 5 mins to put together either lol.

Thanks for stopping by and reading.

Feel free to share this or comment or suggest any list you want to see from me.

See you soon.

Top 3 James Cameron Films!

As i said in my last post about Top 3 Ridley Films. I have discovered i'm not a massive film fan of some directors and two i have pointed out are Ridley Scott and James Cameron.

Now i posted a post on facebook saying "For me Ridley Scott has not done a good film in years, that i enjoyed and infact i can't list many good films i liked from him." so i made a list of films i liked by Ridley which you can view by clicking HERE!

James Cameron's big focus and best part about his movies is his visions and his visual effects in his movies. Avatar brightly coloured. Terminator 2 insane liquid metal sequences.

I have journeyed into my memory banks and into IMDB to list all the Cameron films i have seen and ones i like best. Cameron does not have an awful lot of films under his belt but here are the ones i like. Just like my Ridley list i will just stick to 3.

3: Terminator
A nerve-bludgeoning, relentlessly exciting action movie. Only thing bad about it is the effects when Arnie is in the bathroom showing more of his cyborg self. 7/10

2: Aliens
While Alien was a marvel of slow-building, atmospheric tension, Aliens packs a much more visceral punch, and features a typically strong performance from Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn. An excellent science fiction, horror, action AND war film. Another one of the best sequels ever made i think. It goes off track from the original but its so effective in how it is done and how it progresses the story. 9/10

1: T2: Judgment Day
T2 features thrilling action sequences and eye-popping visual effects, but what takes this sci-fi/ action landmark to the next level is the depth of the human (and cyborg) characters. One of the best sequels ever. It's a shame the series has never been as good as this one or the first. I did really like Salvation though but that was not from Ridley. 10/10

Now to list all the films i have seen from James: Aliens, Terminator, Terminator 2 (T2), Avatar and Titanic.

Avatar is one of the highest rated and earning films in history yet, honestly it's story was just a copy of Dances with wolves and it was ok, some nice visuals and acting but the length was too long and the story was not even all that around half way you need a break lol. Yes Titanic is a nice little love story but jesus christ this film is ridiculously long and boring!

I want to see The Abyss and True Lies. We will see when i get round to it. That's all i got today a bit shorter then the last one i think but that's how it goes.

Again remember, Nice visuals don't mean a good film. Just like how graphics don't make a good game.
As ever, THANKS FOR READING!

Top 3 Ridley Scott Films!

I posted the other day on facebook that Ridley Scott and I don't have a very good track record.

Everytime Ridley Scott announces he has a new film people seem to perk up like "Ohh should be good" and I don't get it.... Ridleys has not made a lot of films that I have liked to be honest and it's just my opinion. Ridley has the flashy visual direction with his films but most of the stories in his films have not been good. Took me seeing the new Blade Runner trailer to say this. Nice visuals don't mean a good film. Just like how graphics don't make a good game.

I did put more details in it but due to tiredness, i did get a bit confused and randomly slapped in James Cameron films and mistook them as Ridley films lol. Now it was a mistake and no one really pointed it out (weirdly) but i am sure you see why as both directors have stunning visuals in their movies but not many good stand out stories.

Yes David in Alien Covenant was great about his last film and yes Alien series is still ongoing and may end up being the best film series but as it stands for me it's: 2 good,2 bad and 2 ok films in the Xeno series.

I said in that same post that i need to go on IMDB and list all the films i have liked by him and so here it is.

Normally i do top 10's but this is how bad my track record is with Ridley. Now i am also not saying Ridley is terrible just to be clear but he is one of my least fave directors and one i find overrated just a bit. As you will see below there are films i like best from him.

3: Gladiator
Maximus vs Commodus is a great rivalry one of the best on screen and this is the best roman and gladiatorial film i believe. It's a lengthy one which does bore me at parts but the final battle pay off is worth it. 8/10

2: The Martian
Funny, smart, dramatic, tense, The Martian is all these really enjoyable film. Ridley Scott handles the planetary and space sequences beautifully, especially an action-packed climax that will have you on the edge of your seat. 9/10

1: Alien
Of course this is number one such an atmospheric space horror movie and a classic in this day and age. The most startling thing watching Alien again is its pacing. For the first 45 minutes, little happens. It's all slow, exquisite build-up, which makes the second half seem all the more horrific. 9/10

You maybe thinking BUT Scott where is Blade Runner? Black Rain? Body Of Lies? American Gangster? Or what ever movie you want. They are not here. Sorry i did not find them good. One's i found good or liked are listed in my top 3. Blade Runner looked great but it was too weird and i could not make sense of it to fully enjoy it.

I shall now list all films i have seen by Ridley. Blade Runner, Black Rain, Body Of Lies, American Gangster, Alien, The Martian, Gladiator, Hannibal, Legend, Robin Hood, Prometheus, Alien Covenant, Kingdom of Heaven, Black Hawk Down and Exodus: Gods and Kings.

I mentioned James Cameron earlier and so here is my list of my top 3 Cameron films - https://1stmetalgodsblog.blogspot.co.uk/2017/05/top-3-james-cameron-films.html

As ever, THANKS FOR READING!

Random Ramblin's 32 - Heyeayeayea! What's going on?!

Sup metallic nation? Hope you are doing well!

Been a while since i posted anything here, just wanted to post a bit of an update and stuff as ever that happens in a random ramblin instalment. First off...The world is such a scary place right now. Sending prayers and well wishes to all those affected in #Manchester

Now to talk about things that have gone on this month......

I have been mostly ill this month missing 4 days of work. All due to throat infection. It's delayed me writing and working and gaming and other things. Over it now although i do have some sort of rash on my hands but this could be unrelated anyway that's my main big delay.

Never been a big fan of #SamuraiJack but i am sad to see it end after all these years. It represents the last of the cartoon cartoons ending.

Ghosts are people from a parallel earth and only appear due to a bleeding effect in the universe? This is new theory and it has my attention.

Argh! Just realised i deleted save data for a game i just went back to playing, why me?! This is so annoying! It's ok i'll just get rid of this game bugger it.....
A message to all fame seekers, Get Famous for the Fame not for the Fortune....

2nd of May out of goodness of my heart and kindness of my wallet i ordered myself and my parents their first dominos pizza. They still prefer papa johns lol.

Found out next Predator film has started filming so i am hyped!

I seen my grandfather the other day first time since xmas, was nice to see him as ever, guy's a legend.

Seen Jeff Dunham live in Cardiff. Achmed was the best but i hardly really laughed most of it was just forced laughter from me. I always get let down seeing comedians live the big known ones anyway.

Well another season of the best show on telly has ended. I am sad but it was another great season #TheFlash @TheCW.

Sorted out my nephews Xbox 360 just a case of corrupted data with Minecraft.

Roger Moore has died. R.I.P.

Sports day
First time in years i went with my work and attended their sports day in Birmingham after 4 hours sleep and 5 hours travel and 6 hours of being in the rain playing football we got to Semi finals 4th place out of 17 teams. Good stuff right? I really wanted to win a trophy but hey next year i shall. I got us through the quarter finals in a penalty shootout i saved us, it was and is certainly a highlight. Great day despite the weather.

Film Bit
Green Room - Mad film but i'd only give it an ok score of 5/10.

Batman & Bill Documentary - Really interesting stuff. Never knew Bill Finger did so much for Batman always thought more highly of Bob Kane and now I'm thinking less of Bob. Marc Nobleman is a inspiration to me now. (I CAN'T RATE DOCUMENTARIES SORRY BUT IT WOULD BE HIGH)

Alien Covenant - Really disappointing film. Maybe extended cut will be better. Fassbender is best thing to watch it for. 5/10

Fast 8 - F8 of the furious eh? The fate was that it bored me mostly. I liked the prison fight scene. Never been much of a fan of this series though...

Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions - It's pretty good but lengthy. 7/10

Digimon Adventure tri. - Chapter 1: Reunion - Great start to a new adventure with the old gang. 8/10

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales - Was pretty good but mostly ok if this makes sense. I found a lot of it unfunny and predictable. Doubt it's the last pirates film. 6/10

Game Bit
COD Infinite Warfare - Well then that's the end of the campaign to that. I really enjoyed it's campaign. One of the best since black ops 2 I thought.

Smite - I got asked to play it, i had a go and i did not like it.

Mad Max - Bought it two days ago, only played a little bit seems pretty good so far.

Tales from Borderlands - Completed this again, nice to have had it free from ps plus.

WWE Supercard - Currently addicted to this game....

SOUTH PARK FRACTURED BUT WHOLE 17TH OCTOBER
RDR 2 DELAYED TIL 2018

My one wish for #E3 is for @Sony to not bring a new @PlayStation YET! Give it 5 more years!

Music Bit
I find Linkin Park's new album One More Light to be terrible and a lazy attempt at mainstream pop music from them which lacks any energy. It has two songs i like and you are left at points like "Oh this will build up and get better" to find out it does not is a huge disappointment just like finding out this is an album from Linkin Park. Most songs feel like they deserve to be given to other artist's to perform. Not all fans will like it, and also for saying I don't like it and that LP should go back to not selling out and to go make good creative energetic music again has earned me a block and a punch in the mouth from Chester Bennington, so you know he need's to put his ego in check or he will lose more fans, the stupid idiot. Check it out if you want to but you should avoid it to not feel disappointed and if anything just listen to "Good Goodbye" it's the best song on the album. Review over.....not worth rating, it's bad....

LAST BIT
Ok the other day i asked people, if i should make a page dedicated to my writing...i have done it!

If anyone else would like to check it out whilst it's got that new page smell then do so and a LIKE is really appreciated as ever.

Links to DOWNLOAD/READ 4 Ebooks from me are on the page now and it is FREE to do so. View it now!

Thanks for reading as ever, will see you soon :)

The 10 Best Guardians Of The Galaxy Tracks

What's up metallic nation? Hope you are well!

I went to the midnight release showing of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 Thursday night 27th April and it is pretty amazing, a solid 8 out of 10 from me. Had a lot to live up to some of it was a bit out of place or all over the place or rushed in ways but it was funny and highly enjoyable.

To celebrate one of the most anticipated blockbuster movies this year in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2, i have decided to look over the first and second film's soundtracks and list the 10 best!

CLICK TO BOOK TICKETS!

Now Tyler Bates who composes the original soundtrack music on both Guardians does a fantastic job but i am not going to be listing his 10 best from Guardians just the 10 best from the mix tapes.

I will add Vol 2 is relatively new to when this list is released so the tracks off vol 2 will need more time to grow into liking more so following seeing the film and this list will contain links to the song's and facts about the film or songs!

Altogether besides original soundtrack the songs used is 26 so let's get down and pick the best 10 so let's tuck in.

This one the team gears up for battle and it's so suiting and a great punk track to kick the list off with a ch ch ch ch cherry BOMB! "Cherry Bomb" is a 1976 punk-influenced hard rock single by the all-girl band The Runaways from their self-titled debut album. It is regarded by many as the band's signature song. "Cherry Bomb" was also ranked 52nd on VH1's 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs.  It reached #1 on the Japanese chart and #106 on the U.S chart.

The first song from Vol 2 to appear in this list is from the amazing Fleetood Mac! Yes they are in vol 2 with their hit the chain which is a wicked song, really catchy and one to bop your head too and rock out to half way through and one easily recognisable for it is used a lot in Formula 1 shows. "The Chain" is a song by the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, released on their best-selling album Rumours. It is the only song from the album credited to all five members (Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Christine McVie, John McVie, and Mick Fleetwood); "The Chain" was created from combinations of several previously rejected materials, including solo work by Buckingham, Nicks and Christine McVie. It was assembled, often manually by splicing tapes with a razor blade, at the Record Plant in Sausalito, California, with hired engineers Ken Caillat and Richard Dashut. The BBC's Formula One coverage used the ending bass line as a theme tune from 1978 until the BBC's loss of TV rights to ITV Sport in 1997, thus making the song highly recognisable in the United Kingdom. On 29 March 2009 the song re-entered the UK Chart at #94 through downloads, following confirmation from the BBC that it would be reintroduced, the BBC having regained broadcasting rights from ITV. On 20 March 2011, "The Chain" peaked higher at #81 in the UK chart following a campaign on Facebook to try to get the song to number 1 for the start of the 2011 Formula One season. By November 2014, the song had been certified Silver by the British Phonographic Industry based on download sales alone, making it one of Fleetwood Mac's most successful songs in the UK.

A really lovely song here and a nice moment of peace as Gamora and Star lord take a break and dance out their sexual chemistry, great scene between the two in volume 1 and it's such a great song to boot. One that has stuck in my mind since my first GOTG 1 showing. "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" is a single written and performed by blues guitarist Elvin Bishop. It appeared on his 1975 album Struttin' My Stuff and was released as a single the following year. Bishop does not sing lead vocals on the track; feeling that his gravelly voice wouldn't do the song justice, he invited vocalist Mickey Thomas, who was a background singer in his band at the time, to sing it. The song peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in May 1976. The song went on to become a gold record.

A classic many knew of before GOTG 1 but it's so peaceful and relaxing and really catchy seriously if you don't like Pina Colada's you will definitely be singing this one love them or hate them haha. "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)" is a song written and recorded by British-born American singer Rupert Holmes for his album Partners in Crime. As the lead single for the album, the pop song was recommended by Billboard for radio broadcasters on September 29, 1979, then added to prominent US radio playlists in October–November. Rising in popularity, the song peaked at the end of December to become the last US number one song of the 1970s. The song speaks, in three verses and three choruses, of a man who is bored with his current relationship because it has become routine and he desires some variety. One night, he reads the personal advertisements in the newspaper and spots an ad that catches his attention: a woman who is seeking a man who, among other little things, must like piña coladas. Intrigued, he takes out an ad in reply and arranges to meet the woman "at a bar called O'Malley's", only to find upon the meeting that the woman is actually his current partner. The song ends on an upbeat note, showing that the two lovers realised they have more in common than they had suspected, and that they do not have to look any further than each other for what they seek in a relationship.

A scene no one can forget in GOTG 1 with Baby Groot dancing and going still when Drax looks in his direction. This like the one above is a classic tune and many heard before the film but it's so good and used in such a great fun cute way with Groot in the end of the first volume. "I Want You Back" is a 1969 song by the Jackson 5 which became a number-one hit for the band and the Motown label in early 1970.  "I Want You Back" was ranked 121st on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Groot wanted to say hi or rather I am Groot....
Another new one from volume 2 and such a catchy one with it's chorus. I have never heard it prior to volume 2 but i wish i had, great song. I can't get the chorus out of my head though.....not a bad thing but it's just one i keep singing over and over lol. Silver was an American 1970s country rock band, best known for their 1976 pop hit "Wham Bam," written by country songwriter Rick Giles. It is ranked as the 70th biggest hit of 1976.

Now sadly i don't remember this playing in volume 2 movie but it was prominently played during all the commercials for guardians vol 2 and it's such a great catchy classic tune. "Fox on the Run" is a song by the British band Sweet, first recorded in 1974. It was Sweet's first single that was written by the band, rather than producers Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman, and was their 14th single overall. The lyrics of the song are about groupies;"fox" being slang for an attractive woman.

Another iconic classic tune one which always gets me singing and dancing in a happy manner. Heard this song first when i was a child and for this to be in GOTG Vol 2 is just amazing! Hell of a way to kick off volume 2 with this happy catchy classic! "Mr. Blue Sky" is a song by British rock group Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), featured on the band's seventh studio album Out of the Blue (1977). Written and produced by frontman Jeff Lynne, the song forms the fourth and final track of the "Concerto for a Rainy Day" suite, on side three of the original double album. "Mr. Blue Sky" was the second single to be taken from Out of the Blue, peaking at number 6 in the UK Singles Chart and number 35 in the United States. The song was played as a wake-up call to astronaut Christopher Ferguson on Day 3 of STS-135, the final mission of Space Shuttle Atlantis.

The intro song for volume 1 such a fun memorable scene especially when Star Lord pick up the little dinosaur like creature and uses it as a microphone. Really catchy fun song, i have listened to it loads since my first showing of vol 1. "Come and Get Your Love" is a 1974 hit single by the Native American rock band Redbone. The song was written by band member Lolly Vegas and produced by Lolly and his brother Pat Vegas, who was also a band member. It was originally featured on Redbone's 1973 album, Wovoka; later the song appeared on many "greatest hits" albums released by the band, as well as on numerous compilation albums of the 1970s. The song peaked at number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in April 1974. It spent 18 weeks in the Top 40 and landed as the 4th most popular song on the Hot 100 for 1974. The single was certified gold by the RIAA on April 22, 1974, which indicates that it had sold over half a million copies in the United States. The song is Redbone's highest charting single and one of two Top 40 hits by the band (an earlier recording, "The Witch Queen of New Orleans", peaked at number 21 in 1972).

Could there be any other number one? This is the one which started it all. Appearing in all the trailers and getting most publicity and air time during the films release and what not. A instant classic one which has been listened to countless time and is a hard one to get out of your head as it's so catchy. Hooked on a Feeling" is a 1968 pop song written by Mark James and originally performed by B. J. Thomas. Thomas's version featured the sound of the electric sitar, and reached number five in 1969 on the Billboard Hot 100. The Blue Swede version made singer Björn Skifs' "Ooga- Ooga- Ooga- Chacka" intro well known (and famous in Sweden at the time), however that intro was originally introduced by British musician Jonathan King in 1971.

List over, let's dance!
MOVIE FACT TIME:
After years of being labeled as "potential flop," Marvel Studio’s Guardians of the Galaxy emerged as the biggest Hollywood phenomenon of 2014 when it was released. ADAM SANDLER AND JIM CARREY WERE SERIOUSLY CONSIDERED FOR THE ROLE OF ROCKET! Gary Oldman, Viggo Mortensen, Christoph Waltz, Christopher Plummer, Max von Sydow, and Liam Neeson were considered for the role of Ego. Dave Bautista's Drax makeup took only 90 minutes to apply, down from four hours for the first film. However, he would have to sit in a sauna at the end of the day to get the makeup off.

That's it my guardians, please comment, like etc. Suggest other lists for me to cover.

Hope you liked this list.

That's all from me so please go out and go guard the galaxy ;)
