Logan - A Slashing Review

Well that was Logan. The story of the animal outcast to the last warrior.

Hello i'm Scott aka 1stmetalgod the owner of this blog page (1stmetalBLOG) welcome to the blog and welcome to reading my review and thoughts on Logan!

For the record i rarely do reviews but i felt like this one deserved it.

So i went to see Logan 10/3/2017 at 9:15pm in my local cinema there was no fuss with ques and surprisingly when i got in the screening there was no trailers or adverts shown as the film quite simply booted up, which was weird but awesome at the same time.

Below are my full thoughts and they do contain spoilers so be warned to read with care and to bookmark this page and return to it after you have seen the movie.

****************************THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS!************************

Logan was all about family which I felt the Xmen films have been lacking overall but you know I have still enjoyed them for the most part. Xmen 1 was good. X2 was really good. Xmen Last Stand was ok. Origins Wolverine was bad. First class was great. The wolverine was bad i thought. Day's of future past was great. Deadpool was excellent. Apocalypse was good. Logan finally was great. That's been all the Xmen films to this point in time of posting and my thoughts on them anyway.

The first class films will continue as it's been confirmed.

Hugh has done a steller performance for the past 17 years. The only disappointment of him being Wolvie has been the missing classic outfit everyone wanted to see.

Is this the last of Patrick's portrayal of Xavier? Maybe but we still have Mcavoy.
Do not think this will be the last we see of the wolverine as fox makes a lot of its money off him so expect a return from him in the future but don't expect to see Hugh in the claws. Obviously it's also not the last of Xavier either and i do wish to see Laura come back.

First half of Logan was spoiled a lot of the time from footage being paraded around in tv spots and trailers.

Second half was touching and where the whole family stuff really played on which was nice but it was really slow.

Final half was the last stand. Sad but everyone knew it was coming i thought the payoff could have been better but i teared up but no tears fell so suck it.

X24 oh no i mean Lieve as Sabertooth in Xmen origins
When X-24 came i immedatly thought "Well I guess they could not get Liev Schriber back to play Sabertooth so they got Jackman to play him?"

The villains were disappointing. The Wolverine trilogy has always had underwhelming big bad guys, but this one really feels uninspired. I also don't think it should have been so bleak either.

I also don't like how vague it was. I was there like "WHERE ARE THE XMEN AND BROTHERHOOD WHAT HAPPENED? HOW DID THEY DIE? TELL ME! WHERE ARE THEY!?" Yes i turn into Nolan's Batman trying to be a detective just asking instead of looking for answers.

When the kids showed up in the third act i could not help but to think "Is this the Goonies now?" but my god those kids have some badass powers and kills.

Since Laura/X23 came to the scene i was waiting on edge for her to open up and speak heck a part of me was like "what if she's mute in this?" i was dying to hear her talk.
Should Laura X23 return in wolvie costume or the classic all black costume? Should she return at all?
It was a shame and waste of time waiting for a after credits....THERE WAS NONE!

Thank god the violence and language was allowed also and we have one Canadian mouthy merc to thank for that. Oh and the Deadpool 2 teaser did not play before the movie started for me but i did see the teaser online.

Quote of the film: "Eff Off Logan!" (Only because it was a funny unexpected scene)

Scene of the film: Any action scene...so much gore!

To sum Logan up in a word I'd say Gruesome.

To sum Logan up in a sentence i'd say "Logan is gruesome, slow and touching."

Logan has flaws but is also a really good film overall for which i'd rank it an 8/10.
