Star Wars: Darth Revan & His Popularity Explained

Alright here's a fun one for all fans of Star Wars, today let's go deep into the legacy universe and explore one of the most popular characters of all time, he is the legendary Darth Revan!

Darth Revan is a character in the Star Wars Legends continuity who first appeared in the 2003 game "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic." He is a former Jedi Knight who becomes a Sith Lord and later returns to the light side of the Force. Revan was a highly skilled Jedi Knight who fought in the Mandalorian Wars. He became disillusioned with the Jedi Council's decision to stay neutral in the war and eventually joined the Republic military to fight the Mandalorians. During his time in the war, Revan was exposed to the dark side of the Force and became a Sith Lord.

As a Sith, Revan formed his own Sith Empire and waged war against the Republic. However, after being betrayed by his apprentice, Darth Malak, Revan was captured and brainwashed, leading to him losing his memories and being used as a pawn by the Republic. Eventually, Revan regained his memories and turned against both the Republic and the Sith Empire. He sought to stop a new threat to the galaxy, a powerful Sith Empire known as the True Sith, and was willing to do whatever it takes to stop them, even if it meant turning to the dark side once again.

Revan is a popular character among Star Wars fans due to his complex backstory and the moral ambiguity of his actions. He is considered one of the most powerful Force users in Star Wars history and is known for wielding both a purple and a red lightsaber. Here are some of the factors that contribute to his popularity:
1. Complex Character
Darth Revan is a character with a complex backstory and a moral ambiguity that makes him an interesting and relatable character for many fans. His journey from Jedi to Sith and back to the light side of the Force is a compelling story that many fans find fascinating.

2. Iconic Look
Darth Revan has a distinctive look, with a mask and armour that have become iconic in the Star Wars universe. His design has been adapted into various Star Wars media, including action figures, comic books, and cosplay. The armour consists of a set of heavy black robes with silver and red accents, along with a full-body suit of Mandalorian armour. The Mandalorian armour includes a helmet with a T-shaped visor and a distinctive cape that hangs from the back of the armour. The mask worn by Revan is a stylized version of the Mandalorian helmet, with a red visor and two protruding horns on the top. In the "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" video game, the player has the opportunity to customize Revan's armour and colour scheme, allowing for some variation in his appearance. However, the iconic look of the black and silver armour with the Mandalorian helmet and red visor is the most recognizable version of Revan's attire.

3. Powerful Force User
Darth Revan is considered one of the most powerful Force users in Star Wars history. He is skilled in both the light and dark sides of the Force, and he wields both a blue and a red lightsaber. This makes him a formidable opponent and a popular character to play in Star Wars video games. Darth Revan is considered to be one of the most powerful Force users in Star Wars history. He is known for his mastery of both the light and dark sides of the Force, and he has demonstrated a range of impressive feats. Revan is highly skilled in telekinesis and has demonstrated the ability to move objects with his mind, including starships and large boulders. Force Lightning: As a Sith Lord, Revan was skilled in the use of Force lightning, a powerful and destructive form of energy that could be used to shock and even kill opponents. Mind Control: Revan has demonstrated the ability to influence and control the minds of others, both through suggestion and direct manipulation. Force Heal: Revan has demonstrated the ability to heal himself and others using the Force, allowing him to recover from injuries and even revive fallen allies. Force Stasis: Revan has demonstrated the ability to freeze opponents in place using the Force, rendering them unable to move or act. Battle Precognition: Revan has demonstrated the ability to see into the future and predict the movements of his opponents, giving him a significant advantage in battle.

4. Role in Star Wars Legends
Darth Revan's story has been expanded upon in the Star Wars Legends continuity, including in video games, novels, and comic books. This has given fans more opportunities to explore his character and learn more about his journey.

Overall, Darth Revan is a popular character in the Star Wars universe due to his complex character, iconic look, powerful Force abilities, and role in the Star Wars Legends continuity. Worth noting is how much merch has been sold of him from toys to collectibles to clothes. I love Revan and I would die if he ever became canon. He was supposed to appear in Clone Wars as a force ghost but got cut so who knows if we will ever see him become canon or if he will appear live action in a future film, time will tell.

Star Wars: How Do Lightsabers Change Colours?

Lightsabers are such an iconic weapon, and they come in all manners of designs from the hilt to the blade to the colour of said blade, but how do they get to those distinctive colours of Blue, Green, Orange or Red? In the Star Wars universe, the colour of a lightsaber blade is determined by the Kyber crystal that powers it.

Kyber crystals are rare, naturally occurring crystals that are strong in the Force, and they are used to power lightsabers and other types of deadly weapons. The other weapons Kyber crystals are no big deal, you know nothing too complicated just Death Stars and Starkiller Base are two massive examples but hey I don't want to make a big deal out of it, wait I have? Oh, well. Kyber crystals are also used in the creation of Jedi holocrons, which are used to store information and teachings for future generations. The crystals serve as the power source for the holocron, allowing it to function. In addition to these uses, Kyber crystals are also revered by the Jedi Order for their connection to the Force. Jedi would often meditate with Kyber crystals to gain insight and knowledge about the Force.

Back to the saber's of light now, when a Jedi or Sith constructs a lightsaber, they must find a Kyber crystal that is attuned to the Force and imbue it with their own energy through a process called "bleeding." During this process, the crystal's natural colour is altered by the user's own emotional state and alignment with the light or dark side of the Force. Jedi typically have blue or green lightsabers, while Sith tend to have red ones. However, there are exceptions to these generalizations, and some Jedi or Sith have been known to wield lightsabers of different colours. In addition to the traditional colours, there are several other colours of lightsabers that have been introduced in the Star Wars canon. For example, purple lightsabers are associated with the Jedi Mace Windu, and are said to be a symbol of his unique connection to the Force. Yellow lightsabers have been used by Jedi Temple Guards and other members of the Jedi Order who specialize in non-combat roles, while white lightsabers are typically used by Force users who have purified red Kyber crystals.
Overall, the colour of a lightsaber is determined by the Kyber crystal that powers it, and can be influenced by the user's emotional state and alignment with the light or dark side of the Force. The specific colour of a lightsaber can also carry symbolic or cultural significance within the Star Wars universe and if you wish to know more I have attached a picture above for your enjoyment and interests.
