Top 10 00's Songs

So here is the second decade i have lived through and the final list on Top 10 Decade songs.

The 2000's a lot went on. 9/11, Y2K fails, Metallica faught Napster, Sasha Baron Cohen became a global star, Little Britain and the rise of Lucas and Walliams as global stars, Youtube was born, Dr.Who returned, Guitar Hero was launched, Katrina wrecked homes, Top Of The Pops finished, Pavirotti died, Michael Jackson died, Facebook launched so did twitter and bunch of other social media sites, London bombings, the xmas tsunami, the Zidane headbutt, Pluto no longer becomes a planet, Saddam executed, Britney shaves her head, Jade Goody controversy, Iphone launches, Smoking ban kicks off, Large Hadron Collider starts, We get our first black president and that's about all i can think of in the history of the world besides my own news and firsts like starting secondary school and joining youtube and social media.

2000-2009 is the song limit of this list. One song per band or artist. Any genre's are allowed. I will be picking songs i like and have memories with. This list is not definitive i change my order of fave songs all the time.

10) Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag - "Teenage Dirtbag" is a song and debut single by American pop rock group Wheatus. It was released in July 2000 as the lead single from their eponymous debut album. The song was written by lead singer Brendan B. Brown and was inspired by a childhood experience of his and it got platinum in the UK. This song is a classic and so darn catchy just the tune of it makes me sing it. "Her name is Noelle, I have a dream about her she rings my bell" and so on because i'm just a teenage dirtbag baby so will you come with me Friday and don't say maybe to see Iron Maiden? I would!

9) Avril Lavigne - Sk8er Boi - I was a boy and she was a girl could i make this any more obvious because i did have a crush on Avril for many years....what? Don't give me that look. The song is a power pop and pop punk track, which lyrically, tells a story told from the singer's viewpoint about her rocker boyfriend and a girl he knew in high school who rejected him because he was a skateboarder and she was a snob. The song received critical appreciation, with most commending its hook, calling the song "funny" and "clever". It also received a Grammy nomination for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance at the 2003 edition. Commercially, "Sk8er Boi" was a success.

8) Bowling For Soup - Girl All The Bad Guy's Want - 8 o Clock Monday night and i'm writing about a song about a girl all the bad guy's want who wears a two-way....interesting. "Girl All the Bad Guys Want" is a single by American rock band Bowling for Soup, from their 2002 album, Drunk Enough to Dance. The song reached #8 on the UK Singles Chart and #64 on the US Hot 100, and was nominated for a 2003 Grammy Award for "Best Pop Performance by a Group or Duo". The song came after a dry spell for the band and was followed by the popular album A Hangover You Don't Deserve, leading frontman Jaret Reddick to refer to it as "the career-saving song" on MTV.

7) Fountains Of Wayne - Stacy's Mom - I always wondered what Stacy's mom had going on until i seen the video and then i wanted her mom too, oh god what's going on here? This song funny enough some think the previous entry band wrote it and they cover it at concerts for shits and giggles. Its subject matter was inspired by a friend of Schlesinger's when he was young who had a crush on his grandmother. A power pop song, the group hoped to emulate the sound of the Cars with the track. So Stacy's Grandmom makes the song disturbing now. The song was accompanied with a music video in which model Rachel Hunter plays the titular role. "Stacy's Mom" was the only mainstream hit by Fountains of Wayne. So now we know who the "Mom" in the video is i guess you all can do your incognito thing. ;)

6) Busted - Year 3000 - This classic tune though it's just that....class! The song makes references to the Back to the Future trilogy, including lines about the flux capacitor and the fact that the time machine mentioned is "like the one in a film I've seen"."Year 3000" reached number two on the UK Singles Chart and became the 34th biggest seller of the year with 165,000 units. The single was also a success in Europe, reaching number two on the Irish Singles Chart, while reaching the Top 10 in Belgium and the Netherlands.

5) Usher - Yeah! - This platinum foot mover is at number 5, the beat gets me going 60% of the time everytime. "Yeah" won a Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 47th Grammy Awards, while being nominated for Record of the Year.

4) Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love? - There's always going to be a soft spot in my heart for this true tune. It was released in June 2003 as the lead single from their third album, Elephunk. The song was written by will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo, Justin Timberlake, Printz Board, Michael Fratantuno and George Pajon. The track features vocals from Timberlake, although he is not officially credited on the single release. It was the band's first song to feature singer Fergie as an official member. The remake of the song was shell less it lacked life and dedication and raw realness within it.

3) Eminem - Lose Yourself - Before Mom's Spaghetti covered our faces from memes this one was an instant classic from the moment of it's release, i thought it was anyway because i loved it and everyone i know loved it and still loves it. "Lose Yourself" received acclaim from music critics, with many critics praising the song's aggressive themes and describing it as Eminem's best work to date. Eminem's rapping ability, the lyrics and the production were also praised. In many retrospective reviews and lists, critics have cited the song among Eminem's finest, as well as one of the best hip hop songs of all time. "Lose Yourself" was a commercial success, peaking atop of the charts in eighteen countries, including the United Kingdom and Australia. In the United States, "Lose Yourself" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first of five Eminem singles to top the Hot 100.  "Lose Yourself" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2003, making it the first ever rap song to have received this accolade, and also won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Solo Performance in 2004. In 2004, it was one of only three hip hop songs from the 21st century to have been included on Rolling Stone's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time", and was also the highest ranking, at number 166. Rolling Stone also ranked it one of the top 50 hip hop songs of all time. The song was certified quintuple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and as of October 2015, it has 6.7 million downloads in the United States alone. It was ranked number 93 on AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs list. In October 2011, NME placed it at number 57 on its list "150 Best Tracks of the Past 15 Years".

2) Evanescence - Bring Me To Life - An overplayed song these day's but still a beautiful classic track. The track was written by group members Amy Lee, Ben Moody, and David Hodges and produced by Dave Fortman. It also features uncredited guest vocals from Paul McCoy of the band 12 Stones. "Bring Me to Life" is a nu metal, gothic metal and rap rock song. According to Lee, "Bring Me to Life" has several meanings and inspirations; its subjects are an incident in a restaurant, open-mindedness, and waking up to the things which are missing in the protagonist's life. Lee later revealed that the song was inspired by her long-time friend and husband Josh Hartzler. Critical response to the song was mostly positive, with critics praising the melody of the song, Lee's vocals and their accompaniment by McCoy. Following the inclusion of "Bring Me to Life" on the Daredevil soundtrack the song became a commercial and critical success.

1) Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood - Number one is this classic it's such a great addictive catchy fun song. "Clint Eastwood" is a song by British virtual band Gorillaz, released as the first single from their self-titled debut album in March 2001. The song is named after the actor of the same name due to its similarity to the theme music of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The song is a mix of electronic music, dub, hip hop and rock. The verses are rapped by Del the Funky Homosapien, portrayed as a blue phantom in the video, while the chorus is sung by Damon Albarn (2D in the video). It peaked at number four on the UK Singles Chart and number 57 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The single has sold 480,000 copies in the UK according to the Official Charts Company. Rolling Stone ranked it number 38 on its 100 best songs of the 2000s. In October 2011, NME placed it at number 141 on its list "150 Best Tracks of the Past 15 Years". The magazine also ranked it at number 347 on their list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time".

It's been a fun but hard list to compile but i hope you have enjoyed this list and all the songs featured. If you have a suggestion for a list do let me know.

That's all from me, have a shiny day!
