Ivy Why was originally a Dutch artist but has now expanded their horizons to band status whose genre can be hard to pinpoint considering their diverse catalogue. Unparalleled vocals, heavy guitar riffs, angelic melodies and a mix of trap style and hard hitting drums, you can see why it's hard to determine an overall genre. Ivy has multiple co-writers that have been a core element to the live ensemble and recording sessions for some time now. Most of them also have significant roles in the recent release rock/mockumentary style film; Burn This City.
Ivy also has an integral part in We Are Going Nowhere, a platform in which Ivy writes and creates comedy sketches, podcasts and now movies, alongside two extremely talented individuals; Jamal and Devante, who also play crucial and extremely entertaining parts in the film Burn This City.
The film titled "Burn This City" follows musicians Rob and Lew who show us the insight's into their band and lives together as they scurry to get big. They first have to make music and publish it and to try and get a manager and chaos follows along the way from dramatic outbursts within the band to behind the scenes troubles from record labels. Follow Ivy Why to get their music out there, to get signed, to get more members and to finally, play some gigs!
This was funny, wacky, crude and full of love and heart about the highs and lows of a band and the industry quite frankly. Its actors are fantastic and standout for me was Devon Tate, he stole the scenes anytime he was in one, and I found him very captivating, I could not take my eyes away from him and his wit and problematic ways.
The lighting and camera direction and how it was made and how it all looks is also brilliant. It's the new low budget Spinal Tap mixed with Twin Town. A job well done lads and congrats to you all and all involved! I can't wait for more of this and more music from Ivy Why in the future.
