Hey there small fry, we don't do "vanilla midgets" on my blog, BUT what we do here is list up the best wrestlers and champions in my personal opinion and so there are no losers only winners. Even you reading this, yes you, you are a winner! What an odd intro, enough marking out let's get down to the business!
FYI - This list will feature the title's holders and older models of title belt in the list. Before being property of WWE it was a WCW title belt. So names here wont all be from those who won it in WWE.
10) Neville
Most recent entry to the list is THE KING OF TEH CROOSERWEIGHTS HIMSELF SO BOW PEASANTS! Neville made the new cruiserweight title matter and elevated it and himself to a new platform and to a new level, THE NEVILLE LEVEL! Current longest reigning champ of the new DOUBLE U DOUBLE U E CROOSERWEIGHT TITLE.
9) Matt Hardy
He was dedicated and determined to win hence why V1 cut weight and slapped a tornado through the cruiserweight division at the time to become champ. Hardy lost the title in style, too, dropping it to Rey Mysterio in the main event of the June 5th episode of Smackdown. It was the first time that a Cruiserweight Title match had main evented the blue show and both Mysterio and Hardy did a great job, contesting a dramatic, back-and-forth match. Some forget about Matt Hardy V1's Cruiserweight Title reign but it produced some good television and showed his versatility.
8) Xpac/Syxx
A 1 time champ in wwe and wcw for the cruiserweight title, dont let that put you off. X-Pac is one of only two men to hold both the Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight titles. Pac was one of the first to hold the Cruiserweight belts (as Syxx) and the last Light Heavyweight champion. As Light Heavyweight champion, X-Pac was one of the few wrestlers who made the designation important. He was also one of the most notable to own it. When he won the Cruiserweight belt from Billy Kidman, he became the only wrestler in history to hold both belts at the same time.
7) Chris Jericho
DRINK IT IN MAAAAAAAN! Long before Fozzy going mainstream, long before JeriKO and the list of Jericho. The Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla was in ECW and WCW and when WCW snapped Y2J up they made him a star and when WWF bought out WCW they brought in Jericho and elevated him to his new level and platform and he proves in the ring why he deserves the respect and level he is on. He first became cruiserweight champ back in 1997 under WCW where he had won the title 4 times. In WWE under the old and current cruiserweight titles he has not won them but should he one day wish to i welcome it!
6) Juventud
Beginning in 1998, Guerrera pinned Último Dragón to win the Cruiserweight Championship on the inaugural edition of Thunder on January 8, 1998. However, he would then lose the title to Rey Misterio, Jr. one week later on the following edition of Thunder. At SuperBrawl VIII, Guerrera challenged Chris Jericho for the Cruiserweight Title in a Mask vs. Title match, in which Guerrera lost forcing him to unmask. After unmasking Guerrera, Jericho would often berate Guerrera for his looks by referring to him as "Quasi-juice" which was in reference to "Quasimodo", the disfigured lead character in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Later in the year, Guerrera defeated Jericho at Road Wild to capture his second Cruiserweight Championship. He retained the belt at Fall Brawl against Silver King, before losing to Billy Kidman the following night on Nitro. Juvented beat Nunzio at No Mercy 2005 to win the title again only to lose it later to Nunzio. On November 25 Juventud regained the title on an edition of SmackDown! from England. Guerrera lost the Cruiserweight title to Kid Kash at Armageddon on December 18, 2005. On January 6, 2006, WWE announced that Guerrera was released from the company due to multiple backstage issues. His final match aired that evening on SmackDown!, a Cruiserweight Title rematch against Kid Kash which Juventud lost. During this match, Juventud would use many high flying moves – despite WWE telling its cruiserweights to tone down dangerous aerial moves – and the 450° splash, a move WWE outright banned due to an earlier match Juventud had with Paul London where he botched the move, and resulting in London suffering several fractured bones in his face. Without the backstage politics i think he would have stuck round longer with another two title reigns possibly more.
5) Tajiri
He is one of my fave wrestlers, he's amazing in the ring and he is a comedic entertainer out of the ring well i think he is after all those times spent with Regal. Tajiri was actually the first 'WWF Cruiserweight Champion', since he was in possession of the WCW Cruiserweight Title when the WWF won the Invasion after defeating The Alliance at the 2001 Survivor Series. Held the Cruiserweight belt (WWE) three times for 283 total days.
4) Billy Kidman
Billy Kidman held the WCW Cruiserweight Title on five separate occasions but only got his hands on WWE's version of the belt (once it was unified with the Lightheavyweight Title) twice. His reigns were not really that memorable as his WCW reigns but he was good no one can deny that!
3) Chavo Guerrero
Eddie's nephew was always overshadowed by his more famous uncle, but Chavo was a talented performer in his own right and was a pretty damn good Cruiserweight Champion, too. Chavito won his first Cruiserweight Title from Rey Mysterio at No Way Out 2004, thanks to some interference by Chavo Classic. He always put in good matches with number 1 on this list.
2) Hurricane/Greg Helms
Gregory Helms is the longest-reigning WWE Cruiserweight Champion ever, his combined three reigns lasting a whopping 532 days and this is what has him to the top of my list but he's not quite first place because call me biased all you want but the next entry is.....SIMPLY THE BEST!
1) Rey Mysterio
His reigns may not have been as legendary as they were in WCW, but Rey was the best WWE Cruiserweight Champion. The belt just looked like it belonged on him and he always brought it in the ring, having cracking matches with one and all.
This concludes my list today, thanks for reading and stopping by my blog. Remember to stay shiny and add my blog to your bookmarks and pop by again tomorrow for more!
